Football Italia reports that Napoli hopes to complete the deal for a fee of around €50 million, possibly lower depending on negotiations with Liverpool. Nunez himself has given the green light to join Napoli. However, both sides need to agree on personal terms for the former Benfica star.

Previously, the Guardian reported that Nunez had accepted the fact that he no longer played a crucial role at Anfield. Liverpool also wanted to offload Nunez because he didn't fit into manager Arne Slot's tactics, and to make room for expensive new signing Florian Wirtz.

Since joining Anfield from Benfica in 2022 for a record fee of £85 million, Nunez has failed to live up to expectations. The 25-year-old has only scored 40 goals in three seasons at Liverpool.

Nunez is on Napoli's list of strikers they are considering signing at the request of manager Antonio Conte. The newly crowned Serie A champions for the 2024/25 season are determined to strengthen their squad in preparation for the upcoming Champions League season.

Before showing interest in Nunez, Napoli welcomed two new signings: Kevin De Bruyne and Luca Marianucci. Italian media reported that coach Conte was given 200 million euros by the club's management to recruit new players this summer.

Besides Nunez, Napoli have also expressed interest in Manchester United's Jadon Sancho. However, the midfielder's very high salary (£250,000 per week) is a major obstacle.
