For YouTubers, one of the most coveted achievements is receiving the Creator Award. Under the award criteria, the platform will give out a gift when the channel reaches a certain number of subscribers.
Rewards include different types of Play Buttons that correspond to each subscriber milestone. However, not all channels that reach a certain number of followers will receive the button, and must still meet some other requirements from the platform.
The Ruby Button was once awarded to YouTube channels that reached 50 million subscribers. At this point, the award is no longer listed in YouTube's FAQ under the Creator Award, indicating that the Ruby Button is no longer an official award in use.
The ruby button was originally called the Custom Play Button, meaning the award would be custom-made for the owner. PewDiePie, a popular gamer and YouTuber, was the first to receive the button. Because of its ruby-red design, he named the award after it.
However, the design and color of each ruby button is different, creating uniqueness for each channel receiving the award. For example, the Indian channel T-Series received a transparent, diamond-shaped button. Meanwhile, the button of the Korean girl group BlackPink is pink and black like the group's brand, along with the Play icon from YouTube.

To receive the awards, you must first reach the required number of subscribers. At that time, users do not need to do anything, YouTube will automatically review, to ensure that the channel's growth is natural and not fraudulent.
“Before an award is given, channels must go through a review process. This includes checking that the creator has maintained their channel in good standing, has not violated copyright or Community Guidelines, and has not manipulated their subscriber count, among other criteria,” the official YouTube Awards information page states.
According to Qqtube , some of the conditions for receiving the button include that the channel must have uploaded videos within the last 6 months, not violate Community Guidelines, partner programs, and not be affiliated with a suspended site. In addition, the channel's content must be original, of good quality, not spam, and not re-edited from other channels.
If the channel is deemed worthy of a Play Button, the platform will send a notification, including a redemption code, via YouTube Studio within a week of reaching the required number of subscribers. Users will need to enter the code on a special page, as well as their channel name and shipping address, to request the button by mail .
By early August, 92 channels had surpassed 50 million subscribers, according to social media analytics platform Social Blade. However, the number of channels receiving ruby buttons is very small (about 10 channels), not counting some channels that have not confirmed receiving this award.
The two most recent channels to confirm ownership include KL Bro Biju (India) and JuegaGerman (Spain). Other channels like America's Got Talent received ruby buttons at 20 million subscribers, or MrBeast for the 200 and 400 million subscriber milestones on its channel.
The YouTube channel with the highest number of subscribers in Vietnam is currently ToRung (58 million), which is also the only channel that meets the minimum requirements to receive the ruby button. Following is the channel of Ben Eagle, whose real name is Trinh Cong Tuan, with more than 45 million subscribers. He shared on his personal page that the ruby button is his upcoming goal.
