Following the signing of an agreement to establish two AI centers in Vietnam, Nvidia proceeded to acquire VinBrain from VinGroup . Speaking on the evening of December 5th, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated: "We are very fortunate to have the partnership with VinGroup and VinBrain, an outstanding and extraordinary AI startup in Vietnam. With VinBrain, we now have a starting point for a large-scale future design center." Immediately after this announcement, on the morning of December 6th, VinBrain's website updated its interface, announcing that it has become part of Nvidia, acquired by Nvidia in December 2024 and no longer an independent entity.

VinBrain is a pioneering company in developing artificial intelligence-based products for the healthcare sector. The company has been deploying these solutions in over 182 hospitals in Vietnam, the US, India, Australia, and other countries, helping healthcare professionals improve their work efficiency.

Vingroup's financial report shows that, as of the end of June, Vingroup owned 49.74% of the shares in VinBrain. The group had also invested VND 126.6 billion in VinBrain as of December 2023.

Following the announcement of the VinBrain acquisition, the Nvidia chairman stated that there are three things that need to be done to promote AI in Vietnam. First, building the infrastructure for AI. Next, nurturing and developing a team of AI experts. Third, supporting Vietnamese AI startups.

Earlier, on the evening of December 5th, the National Innovation Center (NIC, Ministry of Planning and Investment ) announced a collaboration between Vietnam and Nvidia to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research and Development Center, known as VRDC (Vietnam Research and Development Center), along with an AI Data Center in Vietnam.
