At the recent 9th Provincial Mass Arts Festival in 2024, the ball dance program of the dance group from Thoi Binh district left the audience with impressive dance performances. The ball girls My Loc, Thanh Phong, My Loan... showed off their talent for singing and performing folk arts such as: lu dance, khap dance, chair dance, stick dance, lily dance, running disc dance, peacock feather dance, can khon dance, sieu dance... with each dance, graceful gait made the audience admire. In particular, the golden tray dance further enhanced the spiritual beauty of the program.

In addition to being proficient in skillful dance movements, a ball dancer must also know the lyrics, understand musical instruments, and know how to coordinate the lyrics, dance movements, and music to create a harmonious whole.

According to the My Loc female shaman, ball dancing and singing (inviting singing) often praise the goddess, performed by female shamans. The dance movements mostly use only the head, neck and forehead, such as wearing trays and flowers, to show respect to the gods. Ball dancing costumes are very elaborate, colorful, with jewelry and makeup as gorgeous as those of a traditional opera actress.

After hundreds of years of formation, transmission and development, the performing art of Southern folk culture, the Southern Ball Dance, was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Vietnam in 2016.
