Trump wants to end the conflict with Russia.

Keith Kellogg, the Ukrainian peace envoy chosen by US President-elect Donald Trump, said that Trump aims to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict within 100 days of taking office.

"This is a war that needs to end, and I think he can do that in the near future," Kellogg said in an interview with Fox News. According to the Ukrainian peace envoy chosen by Trump, the US president-elect's team will work to find a satisfactory solution for both Russia and Ukraine.

"I think they will find a viable solution in the near future. Let's aim for 100 days," Kellogg said. Kellogg did not elaborate on any potential peace agreements being considered by the new U.S. administration.

"People need to understand that he's not trying to give Putin or the Russians anything; he's actually trying to save Ukraine and protect its sovereignty . He will ensure that it's a fair and equitable solution," Kellogg said.

In his speech, Kellogg also praised Trump for his willingness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, while stating that US President Joe Biden's refusal to work with the Russian leader was a "big mistake."

According to The Kyiv Independent , these statements were made a day after President-elect Trump announced that he would not begin peace talks until after his inauguration. Trump will be inaugurated as US president on January 20th.

In a press conference on January 7, Trump blamed President Biden for Russia's launch of a special military operation in Ukraine and said that the US support for Ukraine's desire to join NATO was the cause of the current conflict.

Throughout his presidential campaign, he repeatedly stated that he would negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict as soon as he was elected. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump's team is studying a plan to delay Ukraine's accession to NATO for at least 20 years, in exchange for the West continuing to supply weapons and send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine to monitor a potential ceasefire with Russia.
