Striving to achieve an 80% collection rate for pesticide packaging.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province is guiding the People's Committees at the commune level to develop and implement plans for collecting, transporting, and processing pesticide packaging in their areas. Regular collection at designated storage tanks is required to prevent long-term accumulation. Unauthorized burial, burning, or disposal of pesticide packaging is prohibited, as it negatively impacts the environment and the production and daily lives of local residents.

Accordingly, from July 1, 2025, under the two-tiered local government model, the organization of collecting and processing pesticide packaging will be the responsibility of the People's Committee at the commune level.

According to the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment, the immediate solution for commune-level People's Committees is to build and install at least one pesticide packaging storage tank for every 3 hectares of annual crops or 10 hectares of perennial crops, and to periodically collect and process the waste according to regulations, preventing long-term accumulation. In addition, they should encourage production and business units and enterprises to support campaigns to collect and process pesticide packaging and agricultural by-products, and offer the option of exchanging pesticide packaging for gifts in the area.

The long-term solution requires the full and timely implementation of policies supporting the development and replication of circular and organic agricultural production models, utilizing by-products from crop and livestock farming, especially by-products from vegetables, flowers, coffee husks, cashew nuts, durian, macadamia nuts, and livestock and poultry waste, for preliminary processing and production into organic fertilizers, animal feed, and fuel in a closed-loop system, thereby improving economic efficiency while protecting the environment.

Combining short-term and long-term solutions with local environmental protection plans, roadmaps, and budget estimates, the People's Committees at the commune level in Lam Dong province strive to achieve an 80% rate of proper collection of pesticide packaging by 2030. This includes annually compiling reports on the collection and processing of used pesticide packaging in their respective areas and submitting them to the Department of Agriculture and Environment for compilation and submission to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee for timely guidance.
