Binh Thuan, with its 192 km of coastline and stable weather year-round, boasts numerous natural and cultural tourist attractions, especially Phan Thiet city, and the internationally renowned Ham Tien - Mui Ne brand, which has contributed to Vietnam being honored twice as a "World Heritage Destination".
In 2023, Binh Thuan had the honor of being chosen to host the National Tourism Year. The province has been and continues to strive to affirm its position on the domestic and international tourism map, aiming to become the top choice for tourists.
Attraction…
Visitors who have traveled to Binh Thuan easily recognize its appeal in its natural beauty, evidenced by the large proportion of highly-rated natural tourist attractions such as Ta Cu Mountain with its reclining Buddha statue, stretching from east to west, leading down to stunning white sand beaches, Mui Ne sand dunes, Bau Trang - Hoa Thang, and the seven-colored rock beach in Tuy Phong... Tourists come to Binh Thuan mainly to enjoy various recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, mountain climbing, boating, and golfing at the province's many beaches and resorts. Besides that, the province also boasts many famous man-made attractions such as the Po Sah Inu Cham Tower, Ke Ga Lighthouse, and Dinh Thay Thim... The beaches in Mui Ne are quiet and peaceful retreats, and those wishing to learn kitesurfing or windsurfing can participate in free introductory classes at many facilities along the beach. Visitors can experience the local culture by visiting Mui Ne Port and Hoa Thang fishing village to observe how the locals live, work, and play, as well as enjoy freshly caught seafood. The Red and White Sand Dunes near Mui Ne are the most popular tourist spots; locals offer sandboard rentals to visitors, while at the White Sand Dunes, they rent out sand sleds and ATVs. Ham Tien Ward is one of the province's bustling tourist areas with many resorts, shops, restaurants, beach bars, and spas along the 10km stretch of Bai Rang beach. Ham Tien also boasts one of Phan Thiet's most important tourist attractions: "Suoi Tien" (Fairy Stream). This place is also known as the "Great Canyon of Southeast Asia" because a small stream has, over the centuries, carved a canyon of colorful sand dunes... It can be affirmed that, with 192 km of coastline, stable weather year-round, less affected by storms than other provinces, and numerous natural and cultural tourist attractions, Binh Thuan is a popular choice for tourists seeking relaxation and sightseeing, enjoying beautiful beaches, savoring seafood, and experiencing local specialties such as banh can, banh xeo, and hot pot...
To assert its position
According to Provincial Party Secretary Duong Van An: “…in the long term, along with the process of building the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, with orientation to 2050, Binh Thuan must re-plan its tourism space in a more systematic way, avoiding fragmented, small-scale, and low-quality investments; more effectively exploit the potential of the sea, natural landscapes, and cultural characteristics to enrich tourism types, and promote the development of tourism types that are currently attractive to tourists such as marine sports tourism, MICE tourism, health and wellness tourism, elderly care tourism, adventure tourism, agricultural tourism, and ecotourism…”. Binh Thuan has the advantage of being designated by the Government as a key locality in the national tourism development plan, and is currently and in the future gradually becoming a key tourism region, with Phan Thiet city already becoming a key tourism city. This is a great advantage for Binh Thuan's development goals. It is clear to everyone that the opening of the North-South Expressway through Binh Thuan province has significantly reduced travel time for both international and domestic tourists from other provinces to Binh Thuan, creating a springboard for the tourism industry to take off. The latest figures show that from the beginning of 2023 to the present, Binh Thuan has received over 4.7 million tourists (an increase of over 86% compared to the same period last year), including approximately 135,000 international visitors, mainly from South Korea, the UK, the US, and China (a 5.41-fold increase compared to the same period last year). Revenue from tourism activities is estimated at 11.3 trillion VND (an increase of about 70% compared to the same period in 2022)... with the great contribution of the expressway system connecting Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces to Binh Thuan. And in the future, when Phan Thiet airport is completed, the number of tourists visiting Binh Thuan could increase to an "unpredictable" level.
However, to solidify its position on the domestic and international tourism map, and to meet the desires of tourists who choose Binh Thuan as their top travel destination, the province still needs more solutions in the process of developing Binh Thuan to a new level. Accordingly, the province "must systematically re-plan its tourism space." It needs to urgently complete the synchronized inter-provincial transportation system. Relevant agencies need to focus on environmental protection, especially waste management, to minimize pollution on beaches and tourist destinations in the province. Strict control and measures to prevent and mitigate natural disasters, climate change, and erosion occurring on beautiful beaches are necessary. Strengthening the protection of key beaches will maximize the image of green, clean, and beautiful tourism in the province and ensure the safety of tourists. For tourism management agencies, the focus should be on selecting activities and attractions to attract tourists, creating a truly unique tourism ecosystem capable of competing with other destinations in the region. Emphasis should be placed on promotion and investment attraction to draw more tourism development projects and investors in new products, services, and improved infrastructure. An effective financial strategy should be developed to attract investment in tourism from various sources. Emphasis should also be placed on the selection, training, and development of highly skilled human resources to simultaneously develop high-quality services and provide specialized personnel for the tourism industry, with the task of promoting the image of Binh Thuan's homeland and people…
With its established brand and natural advantages, coupled with a well-planned and scientific development strategy, Binh Thuan hopes to become a top choice for domestic and international tourists in the current competitive global tourism industry.
