Senegal is determined to pursue the lawsuit to the end.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) continues to maintain a cautious stance in the dispute involving Senegal. President Patrice Motsepe confirmed that the organization will respect and implement any ruling from CAS, following Senegal's formal appeal.

The controversy stems from the CAF appeals panel's decision to award the AFCON 2025 title to Morocco. According to their previous ruling, Senegal were disqualified because their players left the field in protest against a controversial penalty at the end of the final match.

This decision sparked a strong reaction in African football circles. Senegal rejected the conclusion and took the case to the CAS – the highest judicial body in international football. Currently, an arbitration panel has been formed, but the date of the hearing has not yet been announced.

Speaking in Cairo, Motsepe stressed that CAF would not interfere in the legal process. "We respect the independence of the judicial bodies. My personal opinion is irrelevant, whether I agree or disagree with the previous decision," he said.

The CAF president also affirmed that the organization would fully implement the final ruling from CAS. "This is the highest authority in football. We will abide by any decision made," he emphasized.

While awaiting the results, CAF stated that it is reviewing and adjusting its regulations to avoid a recurrence of similar controversies. These changes focus on improving confidence in refereeing, VAR, and the justice system in African football.

The Senegal case is therefore far from over. The CAS ruling will be a decisive factor, not only for the AFCON 2025 title but also for the credibility of the continental football governing body.
