Ahead of Round 7 of the 2025 National First Division League, Dong Thap Club changed its head coach. The coach, originally from Long An (formerly), has taken over to lead Dong Thap through the storm at Khanh Hoa's August 19th Stadium.
Accordingly, the new head coach, Ngo Quang Sang, arrived at Cao Lanh Stadium on the afternoon of November 6th to take over the job. The two sides have not yet signed a contract as there are still a few clauses that need to be agreed upon.
It is expected that after the match in round 7, coach Ngo Quang Sang will sit down with Dong Thap Club. The contract between the two sides is expected to be for two seasons, depending on the team's performance, with the goal of avoiding relegation.
Dong Thap Club has registered personnel changes with the VPF. Mr. Ngo Quang Sang will be appointed as head coach, while Mr. Phan Thanh Binh will temporarily step back to become assistant coach, in charge of technical matters during this period.
Former striker Phan Thanh Bình replaced Bui Van Dong from the beginning of October 2024. In the 2025-2026 season, Dong Thap Club ranked 11th out of 12 teams with only 3 draws and 3 losses.
The Cao Lanh home team is only 1 point ahead of Thanh Nien TP.HCM. This situation is alarming, so former national team player Thanh Binh's position is in jeopardy after the 1-1 draw between PVF Youth and CAND on November 1st.
Coach Ngo Quang Sang also has a challenging schedule ahead. He will make his debut on November 9th against league leaders Khanh Hoa in Round 7. Khanh Hoa currently leads the table with 15 points.
