Tuan Son commune was established by merging three communes: Minh Son, Minh Hoa, and Hoa Thang. Before the merger, only Minh Son commune was recognized as meeting the standards of a new rural area. Recognizing that developing production and increasing income are key to building a new rural area, the Party committee, government, and people in the commune have proactively exploited existing potential and advantages, thereby building effective production models.
For over 15 years, the family of Ms. Bui Thi Thao, from Cooc Mo village, Tuan Son commune, has been involved in the business of cultivating forestry seedlings. Ms. Thao said: "With favorable conditions in terms of climate, soil, and product market, my family has researched and developed a model for cultivating acacia seedlings. Currently, on average, my family sells about 1.3 million seedlings per year, bringing in a profit of over 250 million VND."
Taking advantage of suitable natural conditions, for many years, the family of Mr. Luong Van Tuyen, in Keo village, Tuan Son commune, has been researching and developing a model of growing ornamental peach trees. Mr. Tuyen said: "My family has been growing peach trees for over 20 years. Recognizing that peach trees thrive in the natural conditions here, I proactively sought out more techniques to expand the area and increase the value of the trees. Currently, my family maintains 2 hectares of peach trees with over 2,000 trees. On average, after deducting expenses, the family earns a profit of about 300 million VND per year."
Along with the two families mentioned above, in recent times, taking advantage of existing potential and advantages, many households in Tuan Son commune have proactively transformed their crop structure to suit local conditions, focusing on developing forest planting models, cultivating forestry seedlings, and developing peach blossom trees... At the same time, relevant levels and sectors have created favorable conditions to support people in participating in production support programs and projects of national target programs; developing ornamental peach blossom products into 3-star OCOP products; building infrastructure to support production development; and providing technical training...
Mr. Le Tien Dung, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Tuan Son commune, said: Currently, there are 28 hectares of ornamental peach trees in the commune. At the same time, the commune has developed several concentrated forest timber raw material areas such as acacia plantations with an area of over 2,049 hectares and eucalyptus plantations with an area of about 3,000 hectares; there are 900 families and establishments producing forestry seedlings (serving both business and family reforestation needs). Taking advantage of the readily available timber resources, people and businesses have invested in building 35 facilities and 5 large-scale factories processing products from planted forest timber. The income from reforestation alone brings people over 38 billion VND/year; revenue from the production of peeled wood and plywood is about 250 billion VND and creates jobs for 700-1,000 workers with an average income of 6-10 million VND/person/month.
Along with developing key production models such as afforestation, seedling nurseries, and ornamental peach tree cultivation, people in Tuan Son commune have built and developed several other production models such as crop cultivation, livestock farming, and fruit tree cultivation... (the total area planted with various agricultural crops annually reaches 1,543 hectares, the total grain production is maintained at 5,660 tons/year; 6 large-scale livestock farming models apply semi-industrial farming methods associated with addressing environmental pollution and ensuring disease safety).
Thanks to the boost in production development, the income of local people has increased. By 2025, the average per capita income in Tuan Son commune is estimated to reach nearly 46 million VND/person/year, an increase of nearly 8.5 million VND compared to 2020. This also contributes to the gradual completion of criteria in building new rural areas. To date, Tuan Son commune has achieved 10 out of 19 criteria.
Mr. Hoang Minh Phuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuan Son commune, said: Building on the achievements already made, in the coming time, the People's Committee of the commune will continue to coordinate with relevant units to implement solutions to support people in developing effective production models. Specifically, we will focus on effectively implementing national target programs in general, including projects and sub-projects on production development; continue to disseminate information, provide training, and support people in changing the structure of crops and livestock to suit and improve quality; build production and consumption linkages to further enhance the value of agricultural and forestry products... contributing to the completion of the goals and tasks of building new rural areas in the commune.
With the results achieved and the specific solutions and directions outlined, it is believed that in the coming time, production development in Tuan Son commune will continue to make even more positive changes to achieve socio-economic development goals and build new rural areas in the locality.
