On the evening of November 25, the closing ceremony of the 24th Vietnam Film Festival took place at the Army Theater (HCMC).
Also attending the event were Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Lai Xuan Mon; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong - Head of the Steering Committee of the 24th Vietnam Film Festival; Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Co-Head of the Film Festival Steering Committee.

At the beginning of the closing ceremony, the organizers shared their thoughts and observed a minute of silence for the people who died due to recent natural disasters and floods. The organizers also called on those attending the closing ceremony and those watching live television to share and help those who are facing difficulties due to natural disasters.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Director of the Cinema Department Dang Tran Cuong affirmed that the past two years have been a period of strong explosion for Vietnamese cinema. “We have witnessed many box office records being set; many Vietnamese films have achieved impressive revenue, bringing audiences back to the cinema with excitement and pride.
Vietnam is one of the very few countries in the world where both the number of films produced and box office revenue exceeded pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels. Rate of Vietnamese films reaching nearly 70% of the number of screenings in theaters, showing the enduring vitality and strong growth of the country's cinema industry. Those successes do not come by chance, but are the crystallization of many factors."
After 5 days of the Film Festival with a vibrant and exciting atmosphere, the Director congratulated the artists and film crews honored at today's closing ceremony. "The Department of Cinema always considers the success of film units as its own success, committed to building a professional and sustainable environment for the Vietnamese film industry to take off in the new era" - he said.

During the night, the most anticipated moment was when Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung announced the Golden Lotus Award - feature film category for the film “Red Rain” of the People’s Army Cinema. This is also the film that achieved a record revenue in Vietnamese cinema with nearly 714 billion VND.

The Silver Lotus Award went to the films “Tunnels - Sun in the Dark”, “Fight to the Death in the Sky”, and “Sister-in-law”. The Jury Award went to the film “Mai”.

The awards for Best Actor and Actress (feature film) went to Tuan Tran and Phuong Anh Dao, Best Supporting Actor and Actress (feature film) went to Hong Dao and Bao Dinh and Phuong Nam. Thu Trang won the award for Best Debut Director for “The Billion Dollar Kiss” and the award for Most Favorite Vietnamese Film voted by the audience went to “The Devil Dog”.

In the documentary category, two works “Awakening and Resolving” and “The Keeper of the Heritage Soul” received the Golden Lotus. Documentary
