Ninh Kieu walking street stops operating

On August 7, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Anh - Vice Chairman of Ninh Kieu Ward People's Committee, Can Tho City - said that Ninh Kieu walking street has stopped operating for about 2 months now because the investor could not handle it, suffered losses and withdrew before terminating the contract.

The locality is currently asking the City People's Committee for approval to re-implement the project. It is possible that the price will be re-evaluated, an investment call will be announced, and a bidding process will be organized to select a new investor for the operation.

Previously, the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City (old) agreed to terminate the contract to exploit Ninh Kieu walking street with the branch of Mekong Company, from June 1.

At the same time, the enterprise urgently liquidated contracts with small traders, fully performed all remaining financial obligations. Proceeded to recover all invested items, coordinated with units to review items and assets (public - private), to hand over in accordance with regulations.

Ninh Kieu walking street operates every Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will officially open on the night of April 30, 2022.

Cultural, artistic, service, commercial activities... are held on Hai Ba Trung street, where there are shopping areas, cuisine , and amateur music performances.

At the Uncle Ho monument area (Ninh Kieu wharf), traditional activities such as incense offering and commemoration will take place. This area also has cultural and artistic activities, event organization, festivals, entertainment, folk games, and magic.
