Ms. To Thi Van, from Trung Tam village, is one of the exemplary members who effectively utilizes policy-based capital. Ms. Van stated: "In 2018, after receiving guidance from the Women's Union officials and the head of the village's savings and loan group, I borrowed 50 million VND from the Chi Lang branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to invest in planting over 600 custard apple trees. During the loan period, I received guidance from the Women's Union to participate in training courses on scientific and technical transfer in planting and caring for fruit trees. As a result, my family's custard apple orchard has grown and developed well. On average, the orchard yields 3 tons of fruit annually, bringing my family an income of over 100 million VND after deducting expenses. In addition, my family has created jobs for two seasonal workers in the locality. In 2025, I will continue to borrow 100 million VND to care for and plant more custard apple trees."
In Khun Thung village, Ms. Vi Thi Hue also effectively used loan capital to develop her garden and forest economy . Ms. Hue shared: "Previously, my family's economic conditions were very difficult because we only did rice farming. In 2020, my family planted more than 1,000 eucalyptus trees, and in 2023 we continued to plant another 3,000 trees. However, due to a lack of capital for care, the trees grew slowly. In 2024, through the Women's Union of the commune, I was able to borrow 50 million VND to buy fertilizer and hire people to clear the forest hills. Thanks to this, the trees grew well. Recently, my family harvested 1,000 eucalyptus trees, bringing in an income of 80 million VND. In addition, my family also planted 200 custard apple trees, some of which have already yielded fruit, bringing in an income of 40 million VND per year."
Thanks to effective methods, the Women's Union of the commune has received entrusted funds from the Chi Lang Branch Office totaling over 52 billion VND, providing loans to 626 households. With this capital, many members in the commune have developed effective economic models such as: forest planting (acacia, eucalyptus), fruit tree cultivation (custard apple, pomelo)... |
Not only the two households mentioned above, but in recent times, many women's association members in Chi Lang commune have proactively borrowed preferential loans to develop production and business. Currently, the Chi Lang Commune Women's Union has 3,633 members, operating in 37 branches. In recent years, to help members develop their economy, the Women's Union of Chi Lang commune has coordinated with the Chi Lang Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to provide preferential loans to members in the area to effectively develop economic models.
Ms. Dam Thi Ngoc Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Chi Lang commune and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Chi Lang commune, said: Identifying preferential loans as a "lever" to help members escape poverty, the Women's Union has focused on promoting and guiding women to access capital linked to strong models such as custard apple cultivation and forest planting. Simultaneously, we pay special attention to inspection, supervision, and technical support to ensure that the capital is used for the right purpose and achieves the highest efficiency in practice.
In parallel, to equip women with the knowledge and experience to apply to production, the Women's Union of the commune also collaborates with relevant units to organize three training courses on transferring scientific and technical knowledge in crop cultivation and livestock farming annually; and organizes visits for members to learn from exemplary economic models inside and outside the province. Thanks to these effective methods, the Women's Union of the commune has received entrusted funds from the Chi Lang Branch with over 52 billion VND, providing loans to 626 households. From this capital, many members in the commune have developed effective economic models such as: forest planting (acacia, eucalyptus), fruit tree cultivation (custard apple, pomelo)...
Thanks to access to capital, many women in the commune have built effective economic models, and many members have risen out of poverty, enjoying a more prosperous and stable life than before. On average, the Women's Union of the commune helps to lift 6 poor households out of poverty each year; the entire commune has 350 members with an income of 100 million VND/year or more.
Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Chi Lang Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, assessed: "The highlight in Chi Lang commune is the awareness and effective use of capital by the women's association members. The women not only use the capital for its intended purpose but are also adept at transforming the structure of crops and livestock, turning loan capital into practical economic models such as eucalyptus forests and custard apple orchards, generating hundreds of millions of dong in income. To achieve this result, over the years, the Chi Lang Women's Union has actively coordinated with the bank to effectively implement preferential credit programs. Currently, the Chi Lang Women's Union has the largest outstanding loan balance compared to other women's associations in the former Chi Lang district."
With the support of the Women's Union of the commune, the local government, and the Chi Lang Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, we are confident that in the coming time, more and more women members will continue to transform their lives with preferential capital, making positive contributions to the socio-economic development of the commune.
