Women with '3 clean's'

QTO - Clean village roads, well-maintained gardens, and tidy, cozy kitchens are becoming increasingly familiar sights in many rural areas of the province. Following the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" family building campaign launched by the Vietnam Women's Union, the "3 Cleanliness" (clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley) has become a regular practice for many women's union members, contributing to changing the face of rural areas and improving the quality of life for many families.

Recognizing the campaign to build "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" families as a major movement with a direct impact on social life and individual members, the Provincial Women's Union has focused on directing its synchronized implementation from the provincial level to the grassroots. The implementation of the campaign's criteria is closely linked to the "Women's Contribution to Building New Rural Areas" movement and the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life in Residential Areas" campaign, thereby promoting the core role of women in building a green, clean, and beautiful living environment.

According to Nguyen Thi Hong Ha, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union: Right from the launch, the Union has organized many extensive propaganda activities and guided members to register and implement the criteria of the campaign. Union branches at all levels have developed self-assessment forms, organized meetings, specialized conferences, and implemented many practical models to integrate the "3 Clean" content into the daily lives of each family. As a result, to date, more than 93,500 families throughout the province have met all 8 criteria of the campaign.

During the implementation process, the criterion of "clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley" was identified as one of the contents that yielded clear results. Not only did it contribute to building a civilized lifestyle in each family, but this criterion also supported localities in fulfilling criterion number 17 on environment and food safety in building new rural areas.

Women's associations at all levels have intensified their propaganda efforts through various diverse forms, attracting a large number of members to participate. Hundreds of thousands of women in the province have received information and training on environmental protection, waste sorting, and building a green lifestyle. As a result, many women's households have implemented waste sorting at source, contributing to reducing the amount of waste released into the environment and raising environmental awareness in the community.

Alongside propaganda efforts, women's associations at all levels have developed and replicated many effective environmental protection models. The province currently has hundreds of "3 Clean" models, "Green Waste Pit" models, "Women's Association Branches with 5 No's and 3 Clean's for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas," along with over 500 "Green House" models and waste collection initiatives to raise funds for disadvantaged women and children. In particular, the movement to build flower-lined roads in new rural areas, undertaken by women, has developed strongly, contributing to creating a bright, green, clean, and beautiful landscape in many residential areas.

One of the highlights of the movement is the implementation of a household waste sorting and treatment model. From 2010 to 2025, the entire province built hundreds of waste sorting models at source; 317 self-managed women's groups collected waste in the southern Quang Tri area; 100% of communes in the northern Quang Tri area have waste collection models, with over 98,800 organic waste pits built in rural and mountainous areas.

In addition, the "Every female official and member of the Women's Union has a household trash can" movement has been established, with over 253,000 hygienic trash cans installed in households and along roads managed by women.

According to Nguyen Thi Hong Ha, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, implementing the "3 Clean" criteria not only helps improve the living environment but also contributes to building a civilized lifestyle in each family and community. Through specific models and movements, women have played a core role in mobilizing families and communities to participate in environmental protection and rural development.

Many other practical movements have also been widely implemented, such as: "Combating plastic waste," "Reducing the use of plastic bags," "Bright roads - clean waste - happy homes"... Through these, the Women's Union actively participates in environmental sanitation, waste collection, tree planting, building flower-lined roads, and beautifying rural landscapes. The various levels of the Union have also donated nearly 16,900 trash cans and baskets to households and mobilized the planting of thousands of trees along inter-village roads...

Beyond simply maintaining environmental hygiene, the "3 Clean" movement is also linked to people's living conditions. The entire province has built over 3,300 hygienic toilets and encouraged people to adopt various solutions for treating livestock waste to minimize environmental pollution.

In mountainous and disadvantaged areas, the Provincial Women's Union also collaborates with domestic and international organizations to support the construction of clean water facilities and hygienic toilets, contributing to improving the quality of life for the people. As a result, the percentage of households using hygienic water sources is increasing.

It can be affirmed that, starting from small actions within the family, the "clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley" movement is spreading more and more widely, becoming a beautiful aspect of life for many Women's Union members, thereby contributing to building a more civilized and livable homeland.
