PSG players were too busy with matches to attend the Ballon d'Or gala. |
Coach Luis Enrique and his team were unable to attend the awards ceremony organized by France Football due to a scheduling conflict with the French El Clásico match against Marseille (1:00 AM on September 23rd).
Initially, this highly anticipated match was scheduled for the early morning of September 22nd. However, due to bad weather conditions in the Bouches-du-Rhône region, local authorities requested a postponement for safety reasons. This meant that the PSG stars had to focus on the match instead of attending the gala in Paris.
In this year's Ballon d'Or race, PSG has nine nominees in the men's category. The list includes Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves, Fabian Ruiz, and Vitinha, alongside Gianluigi Donnarumma – currently playing for Manchester City but still a key player from last season.
Among them, Dembele stands out the most, having just had a brilliant 2024/25 season with 35 goals and 16 assists, and is considered a strong contender for the Men's Player of the Year award.
It's worth noting that Dembele and Doue will be absent from the match against Marseille due to injury. However, their participation in the France Football Gala remains uncertain.
Coach Luis Enrique was also unable to attend the Chatelet Theatre, despite being shortlisted for the "Men's Coach of the Year" award alongside Antonio Conte, Hansi Flick, Enzo Maresca, and Arne Slot.
