The turning point of the match came in the 67th minute when defender Upamecano kicked Lazio striker Isaksen in the leg inside the penalty area and received a red card. Immobile then easily beat goalkeeper Neuer from the penalty spot, giving Lazio the opening goal.
Playing with ten men, Bayern were almost unable to create any breakthroughs in attack in the remaining time, despite bringing on strikers Tel and Choupo-Moting. Ultimately, the German side lost 0-1 to Lazio.
