Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France on June 16, Trump said he had expressed dissatisfaction with some of Israel's recent actions. He declared: "Without America, there would be no Israel. Without me, there would be no Israel, because no president would be willing to do what I have done." He even used harsh language to criticize Prime Minister Netanyahu's decisions, calling him "a madman."
The immediate cause of this tension is Israel's recent attacks on Lebanon, an action Washington views as a direct threat to the ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran.
President Trump is aggressively pushing for a peace deal, expected to be signed this Friday in Geneva, amid intense political pressure in the U.S. over the contentious conflict and rising gasoline prices.
The American leader affirmed that he had frankly expressed his dissatisfaction with Netanyahu's recent actions and demanded that the Israeli leader "be more responsible regarding the Lebanon issue."

President Trump's public statements immediately sparked mixed reactions in American politics. Some organizations expressed concern about the American leader's rhetoric, while pro-Israel groups had differing assessments of the severity of the disagreements between Washington and Tel Aviv.
Analysts believe that President Trump's public expression of his views on Prime Minister Netanyahu indicates that the process toward an agreement with Iran is becoming one of the top foreign policy priorities for the United States, and also puts the relationship between the two leaders to a significant test in the near future.
