Massive scale, many surprises await.

On the morning of November 19th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defence held a press conference to announce information about the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024.

Major General Le Quang Tuyen - Deputy Head of the General Department of Defense Industry; Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy - Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department; and Colonel Dang Thanh Minh - Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Department, co-chaired the event.

According to the plan, the exhibition will take place from December 19 to 22, 2024, at Gia Lam Airport, Hanoi . Notably, from the afternoon of December 21 to the end of December 22, the event will be open to the public. With a total area of ​​over 100,000m², including 15,000m² of indoor exhibition space (double the size of the 2022 exhibition) and 20,000m² of outdoor space and supporting areas, this is the largest defense exhibition ever held in Vietnam.

To date, nearly 200 defense units and enterprises from 27 countries, including ASEAN, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, have registered to participate. According to the organizers, the exhibition's scale has increased significantly compared to 2022, affirming Vietnam's defense exhibition brand on the international stage.

The Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 is not only an opportunity to promote Vietnam's defense industry capabilities but also to foster multilateral defense cooperation. According to Colonel Dang Thanh Minh, this year's event is expected to attract a large number of high-level defense delegations, managers, and international defense industry businesses.

The exhibition will showcase combat vehicles, technological solutions, and modern weapons serving the Navy, Army, Air Defense - Air Force, and cyber warfare. Vietnamese products on display include weapons and equipment researched and manufactured by the General Department of Defense Industry, the Air Defense - Air Force Command, the Navy Command, the Military Technical Academy, and other units.

In particular, Vietnam's catalog of weapons and technical equipment is expected to have many breakthroughs compared to the 2022 exhibition. Major General Le Quang Tuyen emphasized that the products are not only diverse in type but also meet modern standards, in line with global development trends.

Besides the exhibition booths, the exhibition also includes a "Vietnamese Cultural Space" area and an area showcasing "Achievements in Building the People's Armed Forces and the National Defense System." This is an opportunity for Vietnam to share with international friends the 80-year tradition of building and developing the Vietnam People's Army, while also introducing outstanding results in digital transformation and the defense economy.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition will feature impressive performances, including a welcoming flight by the Vietnamese Air Force, and demonstrations of special forces and military dogs by the Border Guard of the Vietnam People's Army.

The exhibition also opens up opportunities to promote bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation, as many international delegations have proposed holding official meetings, defense policy dialogues, and other professional activities with Vietnam within the framework of the event.

The exhibition is being held in the context of Vietnam celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. This is not only a key activity of the defense sector but also has the significance of strengthening trust and promoting cooperative relations with international partners.

According to the organizers, as of now, 42 delegations have officially registered to attend the exhibition in Vietnam. With its large scale, comprehensive content, and the participation of numerous international partners, the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 promises to be an event of international stature, affirming Vietnam's role and position in the field of defense.
