The Ministry of Transport has just sent a document to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province regarding the renovation and upgrading of the infrastructure of the Da Lat - Trai Mat railway line.

The Ministry of Transport said that it has assigned Bach Dang Hotel Trading and Service Joint Stock Company as the investor to propose the preparation of a pre-feasibility study report for the Thap Cham - Da Lat railway restoration project under the public-private partnership model (including the Da Lat - Trai Mat railway) in accordance with regulations.

The Da Lat - Trai Mat railway line is damaged in many places and needs to be repaired and upgraded.

Currently, the capital allocated for the transport sector in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 is very limited, the ability to balance capital sources is difficult, so it is not possible to invest in and upgrade the Da Lat - Trai Mat railway line.

In the immediate future, to ensure train safety and traffic safety on the Da Lat - Trai Mat railway line, the Ministry of Transport assigned the Vietnam Railway Authority to preside, together with the Department of Transport Infrastructure, Vietnam Railway Corporation to work with relevant agencies of Lam Dong province to inspect and review damaged items to report to the Ministry of Transport for consideration to include in the periodic repair plan in 2024 from the budget for railway economic activities.

Previously, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee sent a document to the Ministry of Transport and Vietnam Railways, proposing to renovate and upgrade the infrastructure of the Da Lat - Trai Mat railway line. According to the province, this railway line is seriously degraded, some locations are flooded, landslides are localized, wastewater and garbage cause traffic safety as well as greatly affect tourists and local people.

Specifically, many curves are continuous, all curves do not have guard rails (in which the smallest curve radius is only 195m), the route passes through high mountainous areas, the longitudinal slope is relatively large; especially the slope in front of Trai Mat station (direction Da Lat - Trai Mat).

The current Da Lat - Trai Mat railway bed is on average 5m wide, with many locations where the bed is dug deep and raised. Along the railway corridor are mainly hills and mountains. Every time there is heavy rain, water from the hillside flows down to the railway bed, bringing with it soil and rocks, flooding the railway from 20-50cm, greatly affecting train operations. The upper structure of the Da Lat - Trai Mat railway line is mainly P26 rail, 12m long on concrete sleepers mixed with French iron sleepers that have been worn and damaged a lot...

Therefore, Lam Dong proposed that the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Railway Authority consider and direct relevant units to soon invest in and upgrade the infrastructure of this railway line.
