Timely guidance
During the peak days of conscription, Nguyen Duc Thien (24 years old), the village team leader of Bao Tram hamlet, Tay Yen commune, regularly reads official documents. This not only serves the purpose of promoting military service but also helps him proactively refute misleading views circulating on social media. Thien said that promoting military service or building the militia force is no longer as simple as before. Some people worry about being disadvantaged, while others are influenced by misinformation. Faced with this influence, young cadres and Party members who are not ideologically sound can easily become confused. “Thanks to the timely guidance of the Party branch through official documents, books, and direct discussions, I have a stronger basis to clearly explain and persuade young people to understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens; affirming that military service is an environment for training and growth for young people,” Thien shared.
The Bao Tram hamlet Party branch currently has 21 members, including 6 young members. Recognizing ideological work as a key task, the branch maintains strict adherence to established procedures and promptly implements directives from higher levels. Monthly meetings are organized in a practical manner, closely aligned with local conditions, and encourage exchange and discussion to enhance political and theoretical awareness among Party members. Notably, thematic meetings on social media use, the responsibility of Party members in public speaking, and skills in identifying and refuting false and hostile viewpoints are regularly held with a clear focus.
Nguyen Van Nuoi, Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Bao Tram Hamlet, said: “Faced with negative information, fake news, and distortions on the internet, the Party branch does not shy away from it but proactively engages in frank discussions during meetings. Thanks to timely guidance, Party members, especially young members, clearly identify right and wrong, maintaining their political and ideological stance. Any signs of wavering are addressed and corrected in a constructive spirit, thereby contributing to maintaining unity and cohesion within the Party branch.”
Assign specific tasks
Practical experience at the grassroots level shows that young Party members are increasingly dynamic and quick to access information, but are also easily influenced by opposing viewpoints on social media. Therefore, along with equipping them with theoretical knowledge, many Party branches focus on assigning specific tasks, creating an environment for young Party members to contribute and develop through tasks related to local realities.
Huynh Bao Anh (25 years old) - Secretary of the Youth Union branch in Phu Lam hamlet, Dong Thai commune, shared: “Previously, I thought ideological work mainly involved studying resolutions and listening to briefings on policies. But when participating in Party branch activities, I was assigned specific tasks, from mobilizing people to plant green hedges and maintain environmental hygiene to participating in new rural development activities. Through each task, I better understood the responsibilities of a Party member and saw the effectiveness of policies when implemented in real life.”
According to Huynh Ha Luy, Secretary of the Phu Lam Hamlet Party Branch, to effectively guide the ideology of young Party members, the Party branch must first be truly united, democratic, and exemplary. The Party committee and branch secretary need to be close to and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of young Party members, promptly resolving difficulties and correcting deviations in their perceptions and lifestyles. The Party branch should focus on training and assigning experienced Party members to mentor outstanding Youth Union members; creating an environment where young Party members can confidently express their opinions and contribute ideas. When young Party members are respected, given tasks, and given opportunities to prove themselves, political and ideological education will be easier but more effective.
Guided by practical activities and maturing through specific tasks at the grassroots level, young Party members are increasingly "steadily navigating" the multifaceted flow of information, contributing to the formation of a solid successor force and ensuring the Party's leadership role right from the grassroots level.
