This robot, named AquaRover, was developed by a research team at the University of Malaysia (UM) to combine technology and sustainability.
AquaRover can monitor and perform various tasks such as ensuring water quality, automatically cleaning the water surface, and removing organic waste and leftover food.
The robot is equipped with high-precision sensors, allowing it to monitor important water parameters such as pH, temperature, and ammonia concentration. Data is transmitted in real time, enabling farmers to take timely disease prevention measures, maximize feeding time, and ultimately improve fish health and productivity.
This also helps reduce labor shortages and operating costs while maintaining sustainability. According to Dr. Archina Buthiyappan, the research team leader, the team worked directly with fish farmers and developed a suitable solution.
