The Spring Homeland 2026 program took place in a warm and lively atmosphere at the grounds of the Vietnamese Embassy in Helsinki.
The event was attended by nearly 200 guests, including representatives from Vietnamese associations and groups, as well as a large number of Vietnamese expatriates from various locations across Finland who are living, studying, and working there.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland Pham Thi Thanh Binh reviewed the country's outstanding achievements in 2025. Amidst the continuing complex developments in the world and the region, Vietnam has maintained political and social stability, its economy has recovered positively, national defense and security have been ensured, and the people's lives have gradually improved.
Foreign affairs and international integration continue to be implemented proactively, comprehensively, and effectively, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's prestige and position in the international arena, creating a foundation for the country to enter a new era – an era of national progress.
The Ambassador also happily announced the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Party, held from January 19-23. The Congress set forth important development directions for the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045, aiming to build Vietnam into a powerful and prosperous nation, where the people enjoy increasing well-being and happiness.
On this occasion, the Ambassador conveyed the gratitude of the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Vietnamese associations, groups, and communities in Finland for sending best wishes to the Congress, demonstrating the concern, trust, and support of overseas Vietnamese for the Party and the State.

Alongside the overall achievements of the country, Vietnam's foreign relations with European partners, including Estonia and Finland, continue to be strengthened and developed vigorously. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Estonia in 2025 opened up many new avenues of cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, e-government, innovation, education and training, and the digital economy .
In particular, General Secretary To Lam's visit to Finland holds historical significance as the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, making Finland Vietnam's first strategic partner in the Nordic region. This is an important development, opening up opportunities for long-term and extensive cooperation in the fields of education, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable development.

The ambassador affirmed that the positive results in bilateral relations are due in no small part to the valuable contributions of the Vietnamese community in Finland, who have actively integrated into local society while always looking towards their homeland, playing a role as a bridge of friendship between the people of the two countries.
Although the Vietnamese community in Finland is not large, it is increasingly united, dynamic, and mature. The success of Vietnam Day in Finland, "The Era of Empowerment," held for the first time in Helsinki in 2025, is vivid evidence of this strong sense of community and solidarity. Many members have achieved remarkable accomplishments in their studies, research, work, and business, making positive contributions to Finnish society.
The Embassy always appreciates, acknowledges, and is proud of those contributions.

As part of the program, attendees looked back at the Embassy's outstanding activities in 2025 through an emotionally rich compilation video. The achievements in the Embassy's foreign affairs and community work were significantly contributed to by the enthusiastic support and participation of the Vietnamese diaspora throughout Finland.
The movement to learn and preserve the Vietnamese language in Finland continues to develop positively. The fact that children born and raised abroad can still speak and love Vietnamese is something truly commendable.
On this occasion, Ambassador Pham Thi Thanh Binh presented certificates of merit to students who achieved good results in learning Vietnamese in the 2025 school year, and expressed her hope that the Vietnamese language would continue to be preserved and spread through generations of Vietnamese people in Finland.

The Spring Festival 2026 in the homeland was made even more vibrant with "homegrown" cultural performances by overseas Vietnamese and children, folk games, and traditional dishes full of the flavors of Vietnamese Tet.
The Spring Homeland Program 2026 is not only an opportunity for family reunions at the beginning of the year, but also a bond that connects the community, fosters love for one's homeland, and strengthens the ties of Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in Finland.
