According to Jornal da Madeira , the couple plan to have their wedding ceremony at Funchal Cathedral, before holding a reception at a luxury hotel on the island.
This location holds special significance for Ronaldo, as it is only about 1.5 km from the hospital where he was born and about 3 km from the training ground of his former club Nacional da Madeira. The wedding ceremony is seen as the end of a complete journey, bringing CR7 back to the place where his legendary career began.
Ronaldo and Georgina were together for more than nine years before officially announcing their engagement last August. In a conversation with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said the proposal took place at 1am, while his children were asleep and friends surprised him with a £1.5m ring.
Branding expert Dylan Davey told the Daily Mail : “If the ring is worth millions of pounds, the wedding budget will be much bigger. We can expect it to be in excess of £10 million when you factor in the venue, the costumes, world- class entertainment and the huge security team.”
According to Davey, the guest list will not lack big names in the sports world, from David Beckham, Anthony Joshua to Novak Djokovic, Lionel Messi and Rafael Nadal.
If all goes according to plan, Ronaldo and Georgina's wedding in the summer of 2026 promises to be one of the most media-attracting events in the football world.
