According to reporters' observations, along familiar streets such as Hoang Hoa Tham-Cho Buoi, Lac Long Quan Street, Quang An flower market area (Tay Ho), Hang Luoc spring flower market (Hoan Kiem)..., the pink of peach blossoms, the orange of ripe kumquats, the yellow of chrysanthemums and apricot blossoms... cover the space, creating a vibrant spring scene in the heart of the capital.
At Quang An flower market, from the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month onwards, the number of shoppers increases significantly compared to the beginning of the month. Many families take advantage of choosing flowers early to enjoy a longer Tet holiday and avoid the crowds in the days leading up to New Year's Eve.
Nhat Tan peach blossoms remain the main product. Common peach blossom branches are offered for sale from 200,000-500,000 VND/branch, while mini peach blossom branches cost from 100,000-200,000 VND/branch. Larger branches with many buds and beautiful shapes can cost from 800,000 to 2 million VND.
Potted peach trees, especially those with mature, shaped forms, range in price from a few million to tens of millions of Vietnamese dong, depending on the age and shape of the tree. Some unique, wide-canopied trees with elaborate designs attract professional bonsai enthusiasts despite their relatively high prices.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, a peach blossom vendor, in recent years, instead of buying large peach blossom branches and trees, many families often choose mini peach blossom branches to decorate their homes and offer incense on the altar during Tet. This is partly because of the reasonable price and partly because they are suitable for the size and space of their homes.
Along Lac Long Quan street, ornamental kumquat trees from Tu Lien are displayed all along the roadside. Medium-sized kumquat trees, about 1-1.5m tall, are commonly priced at 350,000-600,000 VND per tree. Larger ones with wider canopies, abundant fruit, and beautiful shapes can cost up to 1-3 million VND. Miniature kumquat trees and small bonsai trees for tabletops are popular choices among young families, with prices ranging from 100,000-300,000 VND per tree.

Ms. Le Hong, a long-time kumquat seller, shared: "Customers mainly choose medium-sized trees, around 500,000–700,000 VND. This year, buyers are more cautious, but if the tree is beautiful and reasonably priced, it will still sell quickly."
A survey of public opinion shows that the general sentiment is cautious spending, but not overly frugal. Ms. Thu Huong (Cau Giay ward) said she chose a peach blossom branch costing 900,000 VND after checking several places. "I think the price hasn't increased much this year. The important thing is to choose a branch that I like, with evenly distributed buds and that hasn't bloomed too early," Ms. Huong said.
Besides peach blossoms and kumquats, the cut flower market is also bustling. Gladiolus flowers are sold in bunches of 10 stems for about 100,000–110,000 VND, a slight increase compared to last year. Potted chrysanthemums range from 180,000–250,000 VND per pot depending on size. Snow apricot blossoms, which were a "bestseller" in recent seasons, are now being offered for about 80,000 VND per bunch of 10 stems, down from the beginning of the season due to lower-than-expected demand.

Cymbidium orchids and phalaenopsis orchids continue to dominate the mid-to-high-end segment. Small potted cymbidium orchids cost 250,000–300,000 VND, while larger pots with many flower stalks range from 600,000 VND to around 1 million VND. Phalaenopsis orchids are sold individually for 200,000–250,000 VND per stem; pots with multiple stems cost from 1.5–3 million VND, or even higher depending on the quantity and color. Many shops report that the typical customers are government agencies, businesses, or families with relatively good economic conditions.
At Hang Luoc Spring Flower Market, the atmosphere of buying and selling is intertwined with sightseeing and photography. Many young people and families with small children stroll through the market, enjoying the traditional Tet atmosphere amidst small stalls selling peach blossoms, mini kumquats, and red couplets. More than just a place for trading, the flower market is also a cultural space where Hanoians can rediscover the feelings of spring from the past.
Overall, the market for flowers and ornamental plants for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 in Hanoi is developing in a stable direction. Prices of key items such as peach blossoms, kumquats, chrysanthemums, and orchids have not fluctuated significantly; abundant supply allows people to have many choices to suit their budgets.
Amidst the bustling crowds, adorned with vibrant pink peach blossoms and laden kumquat trees, it's not just about end-of-year shopping; it's also a familiar cultural activity that contributes to the unique Tet atmosphere of the capital city.
