With more than 50,000 visitors participating in the "old for new" program, thousands of receipts were given vegetables because of using environmental bags, the program "Vietnamese Family - Green Ambassador" is increasingly spreading green, responsible and sustainable consumption habits in the community.

"The "Trade in old for new" program at Co.opmart has recorded more than 50,000 participants after only a short time of implementation.

Instead of throwing away old household appliances such as rice cookers, blenders, induction cookers, fans, etc., consumers bring them to supermarkets to exchange for new products with discounts of up to 50%.

Exchange old items, receive clean vegetables, deep discounts

In the last days of June, the atmosphere at Co.opmart Rach Mieu (Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City) became more vibrant than usual. The "Trade in old for new" area continuously welcomed customers carrying all kinds of old household appliances such as rice cookers, electric kettles, blenders, electric fans... to participate in the gift exchange program.

Bringing a rice cooker that has been used for nearly seven years, Ms. Trinh Ngoc Ha (38 years old, housewife) shared: "My rice cooker still works but it consumes a lot of electricity and often jumps. Seeing the Co.opmart fanpage post the program "Vietnamese Family - Green Ambassador", I immediately bought it to exchange."

After a few minutes of checking out, Ms. Ha happily chose a brand new rice cooker at half the price. "I saved nearly 300,000 VND. Having something new, light, and not having to throw it in the trash is really a great deal!", she said with a smile.

In addition to exchanging old items, customers are also encouraged by the supermarket to practice a green lifestyle by using cloth bags when shopping. In the vegetable area, Mr. Tran Quoc Huy (30 years old, design staff) was unexpectedly given 2kg of clean vegetables including carrots and bok choy when paying for an order of more than 1 million VND and bringing a personal cloth bag.

"My bill exceeded the threshold and I used a cloth bag, so I was invited to visit the 'Green Refill' area. At first I thought it was just an interactive activity, but it turned out to be a real promotion," he said with a laugh.

Mr. Huy said this was the first time he had seen such a practical vegetable donation program. "Co.opmart gave away the exact type of vegetables my family often eats. The vegetables are clean, fresh, and can be cooked right away," he shared.

Meanwhile, Ms. Bui Minh Chau (36 years old, office worker) went to the supermarket with the goal of "hunting" for large volume promotions to save money.

After checking her shopping list on her phone, she put a 3.8-liter bottle of fabric softener in her cart. "This type normally costs nearly VND284,000, but now it's only about VND199,000. It can be used for the whole family for about two months, saving money and reducing the amount of bottles thrown away," she shared.

On Ms. Chau's cart there are also 2kg chili sauce, 9kg floor cleaner and 3.2kg dishwashing liquid. According to Ms. Chau, these products are selected based on the criteria of frequent use, large volume, and little packaging waste.

"I've always been used to buying large items, but when the supermarket has a promotion that meets my needs and is associated with an environmental protection message, there's even more reason to buy," Chau analyzed.

"Go green - reduce shock" across the entire Saigon Co.op system

According to a representative of Saigon Co.op, the program "Vietnamese Family - Green Ambassador" is entering its peak phase at more than 800 points of sale in the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) system, including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.opSmile, Cheers...

With the focus on "green consumption", a series of promotional policies for green products and encouraging environmentally friendly lifestyles are being activated by supermarkets from now until July 2.

The most prominent of the series of activities is the "Trade in old for new" program, which has recorded more than 50,000 participants after only a short time of implementation. Instead of throwing away old household appliances such as rice cookers, blenders, induction cookers or fans, consumers bring them to the supermarket to exchange for new products with a discount of up to 50%.

In parallel, the "Green Refill" program continues to be maintained with practical incentives. Member customers who shop from 500,000 VND and use personal environmental bags will be given 1 to 2 kg of fresh vegetables and fruits.

In addition, the supermarket also launched a series of large-capacity "family size" products, helping customers buy more at a lower cost, while reducing the amount of packaging waste in the environment. Products participating in the program include rice, yogurt, soft drinks, shampoo, fabric softener, laundry detergent... with special discounts at prices ranging from only 15,900 to 297,000 VND/product.

"This is not only a suitable choice for large households but also meets the needs of groups of customers, restaurants or charity kitchens," said a representative of Saigon Co.op.

From June 26 to July 2, the program "Fresh every day - maximum savings" continues to discount from 15% to 40% on many fresh products, processed foods and regional specialties such as Tuyet beef, Tafa Plus chicken eggs, CP chicken thighs, white pomfret, squid, various fruits, Western banana sticky rice cakes, lotus seed vegetarian rice, chicken soup with giang leaves...

In particular, from June 27 to June 29, Co.opmart and Co.opXtra launched the program "Super promotion - Great weekend deals" with prices ranging from only 10,000 to 187,000 VND/product exclusively for gold and platinum members. Promotional products include fabric softener, laundry detergent, sausage, ST25 rice, thick creamer, fruit juice, beer, nutritional supplements...

In particular, the shopping festival "Shopping Season 2025 - Enjoy shopping, compete to shop" is taking place with a series of deep discounts up to 54% or buy 1 get 1 free programs for many essential consumer goods, household appliances, kitchenware, fashion and cosmetics from prestigious domestic and foreign brands such as Co.op Select, Ticook, Elmich, Thien Hoang, Honeyland, Neptune, Nutifarm, Tsubaki, PH...

More than 16,000 cutlery products have been exchanged after three months of collecting stamps.

From now until June 29, the Saigon Co.op retail system continues to implement the exclusive program "Collect stamps to exchange for gifts", giving away RoyalVKB (Netherlands) brand knife sharpeners to member customers with bills from 500,000 VND and exchanging at least one product in the promotion category.

Each supermarket will limit 50 knife sharpening products per day, applicable to the first customers who meet the redemption conditions within the program time frame.

According to the summary after 3 months of implementing the stamp collection program, the two products leading in the number of exchanges are kitchen scissors with more than 10,000 products and Santoku knives with more than 6,000 products chosen by customers. These are items in the RoyalVKB kitchen knife collection that are being sought after by consumers thanks to their modern design and high quality.

To quickly own your favorite product or a complete set of 6 kitchen knives including: kitchen scissors, paring knife, chef's knife, Santoku knife, slicing knife and wooden cutting board, customers can accumulate bonus stamps faster by purchasing products from companion brands such as Anh Hong, Vinamilk , Abbott, Strong Bow and Heineken at points of sale in the Saigon Co.op system.
