The conflict between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool escalated after the dramatic 3-3 draw against Leeds United (7-12).

Being benched for three consecutive matches by coach Arne Slot has caused Salah to publicly criticize the club for "unfair treatment" and affirm that he no longer has any relationship with the coach. Immediately, a series of Liverpool legends spoke up, harshly criticizing the Egyptian star's behavior.

The incident stemmed from Salah's run of 53 consecutive Premier League starts coming to an end.

The 33-year-old striker expressed his extreme disappointment: "To be honest, I am very disappointed. I have contributed a lot to the club over the years, especially last season. Now I am sitting on the bench without understanding why. It feels like the club is throwing me off the cliff. It is clear that someone wants to put all the blame on me."

Salah also claimed the club had broken their promise and stressed: "We no longer have any relationship (with coach Slot)."

Salah's public response has been met with strong condemnation from former players - and Liverpool legends - who believe he is acting selfishly and harming the collective.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy criticized Salah's actions: "If you want something, go knock on the door to see the manager, see the owner and do whatever is necessary to express your dissatisfaction. But by reacting publicly like this, he is causing trouble for the whole team and the manager, and at the same time making everything revolve around himself. A player cannot do that. Whether things are right or wrong, Salah cannot solve the problem this way."

Legendary Michael Owen understands Salah's feelings but disagrees with the way he handled it: "I understand how he feels. He has carried this team for so long and won every title possible. But this is a team sport and he cannot say things like that publicly. He is going to the Africa Cup of Nations in a week. Salah must have gritted his teeth, tried to enjoy playing for the national team and then waited to see how things were when he returned."

Legend Jamie Carragher - is always famous for his harsh criticism and this time is no exception, the former Liverpool midfielder called Salah's behavior "childish".

"You are the King of Egypt, but the fact is you played so badly and now you are angry just because it is related to yourself? Why say these things now?", Carragher emphasized that legends like Kenny Dalglish or Ian Rush would never behave like that.

The draw with Leeds left Liverpool in 9th place after 15 rounds. Salah will temporarily leave the team on December 15 to join the Egyptian national team for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). It is expected that Salah could miss 6 Liverpool matches.

Amid this storm of criticism, British media commented that Salah no longer seems to have a clear future at Anfield, despite the great contributions the Egyptian striker has made.
