The conflict between Mohamed Salah and Liverpool escalated after the dramatic 3-3 draw against Leeds United (7-12).

Being benched for three consecutive matches by manager Arne Slot prompted Salah to publicly criticize the club for "unfair treatment" and assert that he no longer has any relationship with the manager. Immediately, a number of Liverpool legends spoke out, harshly criticizing the Egyptian star's behavior.

The incident stemmed from Salah's streak of 53 consecutive starts in the Premier League being ended.

The 33-year-old striker expressed his utter disappointment: "Honestly, I'm very disappointed. I've given so much to the club over the years, especially last season. Now I'm sitting on the bench for no apparent reason. It feels like the club is throwing me into an abyss. Clearly, someone wants to put all the blame on me."

Salah also stated that the club had broken its promise and emphasized: "We no longer have any relationship (with Coach Slot)."

Salah's public reaction has drawn strong condemnation from former Liverpool legends and players, who argue that he is acting selfishly and harming the team.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy criticized Salah's actions: "If he wants something, he should go knock on the door, talk to the manager, talk to the owner, and do whatever it takes to express his dissatisfaction. But reacting publicly like this is causing trouble for the whole team and the manager, and turning everything around himself. A player shouldn't do that. Whether right or wrong, Salah shouldn't be handling things this way."

Legendary Michael Owen understands Salah's feelings but disagrees with the way he handled it: "I understand how he feels. He's carried this team for a long time and won every possible title. But this is a team sport and he can't publicly say things like that. He's about to play in the Africa Cup of Nations in a week. Salah must have gritted his teeth, tried to enjoy wearing the national team shirt and waited to see how things would turn out when he returned."

Legendary Jamie Carragher, known for his scathing criticism, was no exception this time, calling Salah's behavior "childish".

"You're the King of Egypt, but the truth is you played terribly and now you're sulking just because it concerns you? Why say these things right now?", Carragher emphasized that legends like Kenny Dalglish or Ian Rush would never behave like that.

The draw against Leeds leaves Liverpool in 9th place after 15 rounds. Salah will temporarily leave the team on December 15th to join the Egyptian national team for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). It is expected that Salah could miss six Liverpool matches.

Amidst this storm of criticism, the British media suggested that Salah's future at Anfield seemed uncertain, despite the immense contributions the Egyptian striker had made.
