Will Salah repeat the Ronaldo scenario?

Mohamed Salah has just caused a sensation at Liverpool with a statement that has led many to draw parallels with Cristiano Ronaldo's public challenge to Manchester United before the 2022 World Cup.

Immediately after the disappointing 3-3 draw against Leeds United on December 7th, Salah drew all the attention to himself, even though he didn't play a single minute. During an interview, the Egyptian striker unexpectedly made a series of shocking statements, further fueling the crisis at a time when manager Arne Slot was already under considerable pressure.

“I used to have a good relationship with the manager, but now there’s nothing between us,” Salah said. “I don’t understand why, but from what I see, someone doesn’t want me to stay at Liverpool.”

Previously, former football legend Jamie Carragher had urged Salah, as a veteran leader, to speak to the media during this difficult time. But instead of reassuring the public, Salah made things worse by publicly expressing his dissatisfaction with the coaching staff.

Salah's outspoken remarks reminded fans of the shocking interview three years ago, when Ronaldo spoke to Piers Morgan. At that time, CR7 publicly criticized the Manchester United team and accused manager Erik ten Hag. Shortly after, Ronaldo left MU and moved to Saudi Arabia with a huge salary.

Salah has not confirmed any intention to move to the Saudi Pro League. But it's clear that if he wants to leave, the Egyptian international would undoubtedly be welcomed with extremely lucrative offers from clubs there.

Salah is right to say he played exceptionally well last season. But currently, his performance has declined significantly. That's why coach Slot has to make difficult decisions.

Salah is transforming himself from a top star at the club into a hated figure at Anfield, similar to what Ronaldo experienced with Manchester United fans three years ago. The possibility of this striker repeating CR7's scenario is entirely plausible by January 2026.

Manchester United's youth team annihilated Liverpool 7-0 on the evening of November 29th ( Hanoi time). JJ Gabriel scored a hat-trick to help Manchester United's U18 team crush Liverpool's U18 team 7-0 in the Premier League youth tournament.
