(NLĐO) – The first ever Cho Lach Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival was held with the participation of billionaire farmers who combined their farming with tourism .

On the afternoon of December 15th, the People's Committee of Cho Lach district ( Ben Tre province) held an information conference about the Cho Lach Flower and Ornamental Plant Festival 2025 with the theme "Colors of Cho Lach". The festival will take place from January 8th to 12th, 2025, at the Cho Lach District Cultural and Tourism Village.

Mr. Pham Anh Linh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cho Lach district, said that the district is one of the largest producers of seedlings and ornamental plants in the Mekong Delta region. With its unique tourism resources, Cho Lach has many advantages to develop tourism products and tourism, especially garden tourism with its green islands and sweet fruits.

"The festival is organized to honor and promote the economic value of local flower and ornamental plant products, to boost the development of garden economy and the flower and ornamental plant cultivation profession associated with the Cultural Tourism Village and the national One Commune One Product (OCOP) program," Mr. Linh said.

For the first time, a flower and ornamental plant festival is being held in the major flower and ornamental plant production area of ​​the Mekong Delta.

Cho Lach is known as a kingdom of flowers and ornamental plants, and home to many millionaire farmers. The district's policy of promoting tourism development has encouraged these millionaire farmers to venture into tourism, contributing to the promotion of the area's image and destination, in addition to its long-standing reputation as a flower and ornamental plant production region.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cho Lach District, hopes that through the activities of the festival, the kingdom of seedlings and ornamental flowers will be introduced and promoted to domestic and international tourists. This will contribute to promoting trade, tourism and investment, developing socio-economic aspects, and building and enhancing the image of the locality.

"The festival is the first step for farmers to engage in tourism. The district has organized more than 15 training courses on tourism for farmers - working on ornamental plants during the day and learning about tourism in the evening, combined with improving the surrounding environment and learning how to interact with tourists..."

"Tourists will have the opportunity to experience how to make flower pots, graft seedlings; how to make bonsai; how to produce organic ornamental flowers… in order to both develop rural agriculture and exploit tourism," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc.

The event is expected to attract around 20,000 visitors and tourists.

Participating in the festival, locals and tourists will immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere alongside tens of thousands of skilled farmers and thousands of ornamental plant artisans. The festival is also a meeting place for a community of intelligent and constantly innovative farmers in the countryside. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy local cuisine as well as regional and international cuisine.

The festival features over 100 commercial stalls selling ornamental plants, seedlings, and various businesses, including gardens, shops, and other services related to garden tourism, agricultural tourism, rural tourism, traditional crafts, and handicrafts.
