According to reports, at approximately 8 PM on June 27th, a fire suddenly broke out in the protected forest area on Cao San mountain, bordering Tam Chuc ward and Ly Thuong Kiet ward.
Immediately after the fire was discovered, local authorities, in coordination with the police, military , forest rangers, various organizations, and the public, quickly arrived to cordon off and control the blaze.
By approximately 10:30 PM that same day, the fire was largely under control.
However, due to the mountainous terrain and dense bushes and dry vegetation in the affected area, the fire reignited at 10:00 AM on June 28th. Authorities evacuated several households at risk of being affected and temporarily banned traffic on National Highway 21A in the area.
Approximately 200 people, along with various resources such as specialized fire trucks, tools, and local personnel, were mobilized to participate in extinguishing the fire.
Preliminary statistics as of 2 PM on the same day indicate that the fire affected 3,000 - 3,500 square meters of forest, mainly undergrowth, shrubs, and vines.
Initially, authorities determined that the cause of the forest fire was a lightning strike on the evening of June 27th, which caused the fire to spread from the mountaintop down the slopes of Cao San mountain.
Local authorities are continuing to closely monitor the fire situation and implement measures to mitigate the consequences.
