With a consistent perspective on development goals, the Party Committee of Son My commune, in the new phase, is steadfast in its reform policies, focusing resources on investing in essential infrastructure development, prioritizing inter-commune transportation, electricity grids, and water supply systems to serve the people and industrial zones. It is also promoting the shift in economic structure towards the development of energy industry, logistics services, and coastal tourism, linked with high-tech agriculture and the formation of production-processing-consumption chains.

Furthermore, the commune focuses on improving the quality of education, healthcare, and culture; preserving traditional coastal values; ensuring social security, and paying attention to poor households and vulnerable groups. It maintains political stability and social order and security in the context of attracting many large projects and a large population. It continues to strengthen national unity, improve the effectiveness of state management, strengthen discipline and order; and build a clean and strong political system and Party organization to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable development of the commune in the new phase.

Son My commune will maximize its potential in industry, services, tourism, and high-tech agriculture; attracting investment while protecting resources, the environment, and adapting to climate change. In the coming period, trends such as digital transformation, green economy, circular economy, smart agriculture, and sustainable urban development will increasingly dominate. Meanwhile, Vietnam aims to become an upper-middle-income country by 2030, and is accelerating investment in strategic infrastructure, developing high-tech industries, the digital economy, modern services, and technology-applied agriculture. The South Central region – where Son My is located, now part of Lam Dong province – is identified as a dynamic development area, converging many opportunities for breakthroughs.

In Son My, a series of large projects such as Son My Industrial Parks 1 and 2, and the Ham Tan - La Gi Industrial-Urban-Service Zone are expected to commence; the Tan Minh - Son My road has been completed; and inter-regional transportation routes have been invested in and connected. Along with that, obstacles in the Tan Thang - Thang Hai coastal tourism projects will be resolved, creating the foundation for the formation of a large-scale tourism and resort cluster. Furthermore, Son My possesses a rich land and irrigation system, continuing to provide favorable conditions for the development of clean industries, logistics services, high-tech agriculture, and diversification of crops and livestock.

Comrade Nguyen Le Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Son My commune shared: “Besides the advantages, many difficulties also arise such as: unpredictable weather and disease outbreaks; production is mainly small-scale agriculture with low efficiency; infrastructure is both weak and lacking in uniformity; and the local high-quality human resources are limited. The security and social order situation still harbors complex factors; many obstacles in land clearance, land management, tourism and service development… need to be addressed in the coming time.”

Many solutions were proposed, including: Restructuring the agricultural sector towards efficiency, adaptability, and sustainability. This should focus on restructuring the agricultural sector in a practical and effective way, maximizing land potential, encouraging people to change the structure of crops and livestock to suit natural conditions, focusing on crops and livestock with high economic value, stable markets, and easy consumption. Establishing specialized production areas in a concentrated manner, creating favorable conditions for mechanization, technology application, and product branding...

The commune identifies key agricultural product groups to build a long-term development orientation, linked to the consumer market. It promotes the development of OCOP-certified products, focusing on quality, design, packaging, and traceability to enhance value, expand markets, and gradually build local brands. It also promotes the development of various forms of agricultural production linkages such as cooperatives, partnerships with businesses along the value chain. This creates opportunities for farmers to access market information, production techniques, and stable product consumption models.
