The impetus from digital infrastructure in Phu Tho

In the digital transformation process, digital infrastructure is identified as the "backbone" playing a fundamental role in the development of digital government, digital economy, and digital society. With the decisive direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, and the synchronized involvement of various sectors and localities, Phu Tho province's digital infrastructure is experiencing strong development, creating a clear impetus for socio-economic development.

In recent years, telecommunications and broadband internet infrastructure in the province has been continuously invested in, expanded, and improved in quality. The network coverage is increasingly widespread, ensuring that it meets the growing needs of people and businesses, from urban to rural areas, including remote regions. This is a prerequisite for the synchronized and effective deployment of digital services in all aspects of life.

One of the outstanding highlights is the rapid development of next-generation mobile infrastructure. The province currently has 9,283 BTS stations, including 868 5G stations, a six-fold increase compared to the period before July 1, 2025. 5G network coverage has reached 100% of commune and ward centers and industrial zones, gradually expanding to densely populated areas and key production and business zones. The 5G coverage rate has reached approximately 50%, a five-fold increase compared to 2024, demonstrating a breakthrough in the province's telecommunications infrastructure.

Simultaneously, 3G and 4G mobile networks continue to be maintained and upgraded, with coverage reaching approximately 98% of the province's total area, creating a stable and continuous connection foundation to effectively support digital transformation activities in all sectors.

Beyond just infrastructure connectivity, Phu Tho also focuses on deploying digital platforms to support management and administration. Information systems, databases, and data integration and sharing platforms are being built synchronously, gradually forming a digital ecosystem to serve government operations. As a result, the handling of work by state agencies is becoming faster, more transparent, and more efficient.

With an increasingly完善 digital infrastructure, digital transformation in businesses and economic sectors of the province has seen positive changes. Many businesses have proactively applied digital technology to management, operations, production, and business; thereby optimizing costs, increasing labor productivity, and expanding product markets.

The digital economy is gradually asserting its role as a new growth engine. The proportion of the digital economy in the province's GRDP (after consolidation) is estimated at approximately 22%, with Vinh Phuc province alone reaching about 30%. The province currently has about 600 digital technology enterprises, contributing 4.55 percentage points to GRDP growth in 2025. These figures show that digital transformation is no longer a trend but has become a key factor in local economic development.

Furthermore, data platforms, digital services, and digital human resources are gradually being formed and developed. Investing in data and people helps enhance the capacity to absorb technology, creates conditions for the development of new economic models, and improves the quality of public services and people's lives.

Based on the achievements, Phu Tho continues to set the goal of developing digital infrastructure in a modern, synchronized, safe, and sustainable direction. Digital infrastructure is not only a tool for immediate use but also a long-term strategic foundation, and must be developed in parallel with transportation, energy, and other technical infrastructures.

According to the plan, the province aims for 5G mobile network coverage to reach 99% of the population, while also preparing for testing new technologies such as 6G. Fixed broadband internet infrastructure will be upgraded to ensure 100% of the population has access to high-speed fiber optic internet. The target for IPv6 adoption is 90%, moving towards a complete transition to the next-generation internet environment.

In the data sector, the province aims to attract investment in building large-scale regional data centers, while simultaneously upgrading existing data centers towards cloud computing and integrating artificial intelligence to serve data processing and exploitation more efficiently.

Alongside this, goals for developing IoT infrastructure, smart cities, personal digital signatures, and shared digital platforms have also been set to promote the formation of a comprehensive digital society, where all activities from management and production to daily life are supported by digital technology.

It can be affirmed that, with clear direction and systematic steps, digital infrastructure is becoming an important driving force, creating a strong impetus for Phu Tho to accelerate its digital transformation process, aiming for rapid and sustainable growth in the coming period.
