Actress Le Phuong hesitated before accepting the role of Kimmie in the TV series "You Can't Escape Me" (airing on VieON from early July 2025) directed by Nguyen Hoang Anh. This is the most unique and novel role in her career to date. She had to cut her hair, wear a suit, and project a handsome and stylish image with eyes that exude coldness and decisiveness to portray a character belonging to the LGBTQ+ community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and lesbian). "I had to think carefully about whether to accept the role or not. If I didn't do well, I would be very disappointed. But if I missed this opportunity, I would probably regret it for the rest of my career," Le Phuong shared.
However, captivated by the unique role and supported by her husband and family, Le Phuong stepped out of her comfort zone, accepted the role, and strived to embody it. To transform herself into this character, Le Phuong had to research and learn from many people and sources, observing and practicing walking, standing, and speaking like a real man. Le Phuong's efforts paid off when her performance received positive reviews from the audience.
Despite his limited screen time, the role of Mr. Ma, played by People's Artist Dao Ba Son in the film "Ut Lan: The Vengeful Spirit Guarding the Treasure," left a distinct impression. This villainous character, with his evil face and sinister smile, was portrayed vividly and convincingly on the big screen. The interesting and unique nature of the role, compared to his previous performances, was also one of the factors that attracted People's Artist Dao Ba Son to take on the part.
Producer Lan Anh said that People's Artist Dao Ba Son had many suggestions during the filming process to make the role of Mr. Ma more complete, with a compelling fate, and suitable for the film's story. In the acting profession, whether for veteran or young actors, getting roles with unique and impressive personalities and destinies is not easy. When the opportunity arises, they are willing to participate even if the role is small, serves as a supporting character for the main role, or the filmmaker's remuneration is not commensurate. With such roles, they not only have the freedom to be creative and excel in their performance but also have the chance to leave a lasting impression on the audience.
