Immediately after being crowned Miss World Vietnam, this 21-year-old girl from Binh Dinh made several controversial statements, such as: "I am now in a new position, a real leap forward compared to who I was 2-3 months ago. Certainly, my boyfriend must also make rapid changes and progress to keep up with me. But I hope my boyfriend will still maintain his innocence, carefree nature, and live true to his age."

For example, Huynh Tran Y Nhi claimed that while her peers were busy playing and drinking bubble tea, she was already a beauty queen. Or, in a talk show, when asked about three famous people in Binh Dinh, the newly crowned Miss World Vietnam innocently replied: "Me, the poet Han Mac Tu, and King Quang Trung," causing outrage and uproar on social media.
Of course, after the "beauty queen's" systematic scandalous statements, public opinion criticized Huynh Tran Y Nhi, calling on the organizers to strip her of her crown. And, unsurprisingly, this was followed by her tearful outbursts and two "sincere" apologies.
It's easy to see that the strong reactions partly reflect the expectations of a segment of the public regarding the title of beauty queen. They sincerely hope that a beauty queen will be inspiring, beautiful in both appearance and character, and speak appropriately with a generous heart. And this is precisely the weight of the crown that Huỳnh Trần Ý Nhi possesses.
She herself was very proud (sometimes excessively) of her statements after winning the beauty queen crown. Therefore, the pressure she faced when she made careless remarks is understandable in life. Surely, when these events occurred, she herself couldn't have imagined the harsh controversies that lay behind the glamour.
The problem here lies with the organizers, who both represented her image and brought her from a 21-year-old university student to the top of the competition. The organizers are responsible if their chosen contestant faces public criticism. They must also stand up against the media storm to defend their views and their contestant, rather than letting the young woman face controversy alone. Furthermore, the organizers need to advise, assist, and train their contestants on how to handle interview questions, the flashing lights, and media crises even before they are crowned Miss.
Ultimately, everyone has flaws and makes mistakes, and beauty queens are no exception. Huynh Tran Y Nhi still has plenty of time to improve herself. But she might lose everything if the organizers' carelessness destroys her honor and dignity, something the new beauty queen once prided herself on: the glamour of the crown.
