The heart of gold of the football player

Nguyen Tien Linh is a professional football player currently playing for Becamex Binh Duong Football Club in the V.League and the Vietnam national football team.

Nguyen Tien Linh was born in Cam Hoang commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province. When he was two years old, his mother went to work in South Korea. Later, Tien Linh and his father moved to Binh Duong province to live and start a business. Currently, his family runs a football-themed cafe in Thuan An city, Binh Duong province (now An Phu ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

His football talent was discovered by his physical education teacher, and at the age of 13, he applied to and was accepted into the Becamex Binh Duong Club's training academy.

On April 10, 2016, Tien Linh made his debut for the club in a match in Round 5 of the V.League 1. Since then, Tien Linh has strived and trained tirelessly to mature both in his performance and on-field ethics. In recent years, he has gradually reached the peak of his career and has become an outstanding striker with impressive achievements, renowned not only for Becamex Binh Duong but also for the Vietnamese national team.

The hardworking footballer is also involved in charitable activities.

Besides all the glory and achievements he has attained, Tien Linh is also known as one of the most diligent and charitable players. He has contributed a significant amount of money and effort to meaningful and humane community activities, not only in Binh Duong, where his family lives, but also in many other localities across the country.

Some of his activities have been reported in the press and known to the community, such as participating in fundraising football matches and donating tons of rice to charity kitchens after winning medals with the Vietnamese national team. But there are also contributions and acts of sharing with the community that he has quietly done for many years, meaningful activities that few people know about and haven't been widely reported in the media. One of these is his wholehearted support, both spiritually and materially, for the Bach Mai Zero-Cost Canteen (near Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi ) over the past few years. This is a clear testament to Tien Linh's compassion and sincere desire to help those less fortunate.

According to Ms. Pham Thi Thuy, the founder and operator of the Bach Mai Zero-Cost Canteen, Tien Linh's first encounter with the canteen was in 2023. While bringing his grandparents from Hai Duong to Hanoi for a medical check-up at Bach Mai Hospital, Tien Linh happened to see the canteen distributing free meals and the sign that read "Zero-Cost Canteen." He proactively contacted them and inquired about their services. Knowing that the canteen prepares 500 meals daily and distributes them free of charge to people in need from Monday to Friday, the footballer offered to support them.

Since then, every month he regularly sends 1 ton of rice to support Thuy and her friends in cooking meals together. Not only that, whenever he receives awards for his good performance with the national team, Tien Linh donates additional money to the Bach Mai Zero-Cost Canteen to buy various food items to maintain the cooking and distribution of meals. Especially, whenever he has the opportunity to go to Hanoi for training with the national team or with Becamex Binh Duong Club for matches, he always tries to arrange to visit Thuy and everyone else in person and personally deliver meals to those in need.

According to Thuy, although Tien Linh is not the only celebrity supporting the community kitchen, what is valuable and admirable about him is his simplicity, sincerity, and kindness, from his material support to his compassionate way of life, shown through his gentle, polite bow when delivering meals to those who come to receive them.

The male player quietly acted and felt joy in being able to help patients and their families with delicious, warm, free meals.

Simple, sincere, and kind.

Whenever he has the opportunity to visit the soup kitchen, Tiến Linh will do whatever he can to help people, from serving and delivering meals to welcoming people as they come to receive their free meals. Many of these actions, though small, are enough to show that everything he does comes from the heart, not for show or display. Tiến Linh does everything because he genuinely wants to help, supporting the soup kitchen to the best of his ability, simply because he wants to share with those less fortunate around him...

Ms. Thuy added that Tien Linh never came to the canteen by car. He only took a Grab taxi to the end of the alley and then walked to the canteen. Once, even though he was injured and limping, he still visited the canteen because it had been a long time since he'd been there. And when he saw the happy smiles of the people receiving their hot meals, Linh smiled brightly and told Ms. Thuy that he was very happy, that although he was injured, the pain wasn't as bad anymore. How precious is the sincere heart and affection of the football player Tien Linh.

What's admirable is that, despite having been involved with the Bach Mai Zero-Cost Canteen for quite some time, he hasn't publicly announced his charitable activities. The football player quietly acts and finds joy in being able to help patients and their families with delicious, warm, free meals.

With his contributions and dedication to community volunteer activities, in 2024 Tien Linh was not only chosen as a volunteer ambassador by Binh Duong but also had the honor of being recognized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union with the "Youth Living Beautifully" award.

Having risen from humble beginnings, Tien Linh understands the meaning of "life is about giving, not just receiving" (To Huu). He truly has a heart of gold in the world of football, a beautiful example to spread the spirit of sharing and love to the community. We believe that in the future, Tien Linh will continue his meaningful activities, not only helping more people but also contributing to spreading a beautiful way of life with a compassionate and sincere heart to young people in today's busy world.
