Due to the nature of my work, I have the opportunity to interact with many young Vietnamese people, including those who are still Vietnamese citizens or of Vietnamese origin, living and working abroad.
Among them, many have achieved significant success at a very young age, such as one who, before the age of 30, became an economist working at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC, or many other young Vietnamese people holding high-level positions in global technology corporations… According to some unofficial statistics, it is estimated that thousands of young Vietnamese people are currently senior personnel in technology corporations in Silicon Valley (California, USA) and surrounding areas.
Over the past period, we have taken many concrete and practical actions to attract talented Vietnamese people to return and contribute to their homeland. However, due to work or life circumstances, not everyone can immediately return to the country. Meanwhile, such talented and intellectual individuals can become a very valuable resource to promote national development.
Young people working in international organizations and leading global corporations will have many opportunities to access skills and build international work experience. This is a crucial factor that Vietnam needs to continuously improve the quality of its human resources amidst the globalization trend of the knowledge-based economy era.
Based on this reality, we need diverse action programs so that every talented individual, every young person, can contribute to the development of the country according to their individual circumstances. One of the foundations for this action program could be building a community connecting young Vietnamese intellectuals both at home and abroad.
To be effective and deliver practical value, the community needs specific goals and appropriate collaborative research and experience-sharing programs. Furthermore, this community could even become a "trading platform" where government ministries and businesses can commission research and analysis.
In this way, we can leverage the intelligence and experience of talented Vietnamese intellectuals abroad. This collaboration also gives domestic personnel more opportunities to access skills, experience, and standards from those working in international organizations and corporations. As a result, the quality of our domestic workforce is also enhanced.
Furthermore, the Vietnamese intellectual and talented individuals abroad also serve as a bridge between Vietnam and leading organizations and corporations worldwide. In fact, this " diplomatic " or networking channel is just as effective as official forms of connection.
This illustrates that if we effectively leverage the contributions of talented young Vietnamese people abroad, through diverse methods, Vietnam will receive a huge and valuable resource for the country's development.
