With their superior strength, Thailand started the match confidently despite playing away at Taipei Municipal Stadium. In the 4th minute, Teerasak broke through the offside trap and chipped the ball beautifully over goalkeeper Huang Chiu Lin (Taiwan), giving Thailand a 1-0 lead.
After breaking the deadlock, Thailand played with more confidence and added two more goals in the remainder of the first half, scored by Ratree in the 25th minute and Sarachat in the 45+1 minute, to take a 3-0 lead.
This result almost sealed the match. Later in the second half, Thailand scored three more goals, courtesy of Teerasak (62nd and 76th minutes) and Huang Tzu-ming (own goal in the 90+3 minute).
Meanwhile, Taiwan also managed to score a consolation goal thanks to Kuo Po-wei in the 46th minute.
With a resounding 6-1 victory, Thailand temporarily moved to the top of Group D with 9 points.
