The Lunar New Year arrives early for the patients.

While many families are busy preparing for Tet (Lunar New Year) and reuniting with loved ones, at hospitals, the treatment journey of hundreds of patients continues quietly. Understanding these hardships, many hospitals in the province have organized practical activities to care for patients, bringing the Tet atmosphere closer to them, helping to alleviate their pain and giving them more strength to confidently continue treatment in the days leading up to spring.

Many sharing activities

The atmosphere at Khanh Hoa General Hospital became more vibrant as the "Spring of Love - Bringing Music to the Hospital" program was held in the hospital's main courtyard. The gentle melodies of spring seemed to alleviate the worries of hundreds of inpatients. Beyond musical performances, this year's program also focused on providing emotional support to patients, such as giving Tet gifts, cutting hair, and washing hair right at the hospital. These seemingly ordinary acts held special meaning for patients who had been hospitalized for extended periods.

Dr. Tran Thi Hoai Thuong, Secretary of the Youth Union at Khanh Hoa General Hospital, said: “Besides professional treatment, the hospital focuses on caring for the mental well-being of patients, especially during the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year). Music, small gifts, and even haircuts and hair washing will help patients feel more relaxed, happy, and optimistic.” Immersed in that warm spring atmosphere, Ms. Le Thi Hong Lien (Ba Ngoi ward), a long-time dialysis patient at the hospital, couldn't hide her emotion when the youth union members of the program cut her hair, washed it, and chatted with her. “Participating in the program, I feel very happy, excited, and have more motivation to continue treatment, especially during the end of the year,” Ms. Lien shared. Sharing the same joy, Ms. Tran Thi Duyen (Dai Lanh commune) said that having her hair washed and neatly cut made her feel much more comfortable after many days in the hospital.

Earlier, the Tet atmosphere at Khanh Hoa Psychiatric Hospital was equally vibrant with the 2026 Spring Fair for over 100 inpatients held in the hospital's multi-purpose playground. After theatrical performances, singing, and dancing, patients received tickets to participate in traditional folk games such as: throwing balls into baskets, can throwing, bowling, fishing, and foosball at six booths. Prizes for the winners included cakes, candies, milk, and soft drinks, bringing much laughter and joy to both patients and medical staff.

Spreading humanitarian values

Dr. Le Vu Chuong, Director of Khanh Hoa General Hospital, said that the hospital regularly maintains activities to care for patients during Tet (Lunar New Year) with the desire that the hospital is not only a place for treating diseases, but also a place where patients feel cared for and loved. "We hope that each patient, while staying at the hospital during Tet, will still feel the family atmosphere, gaining more faith and motivation to overcome their illness," Dr. Chuong shared.

For mental health patients, a group facing significant social disadvantages and prejudice, activities aimed at caring for their mental well-being are especially meaningful. Dr. Nguyen Anh Chuong, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Psychiatric Hospital, emphasized: “Organizing the spring fair is an annual activity maintained by the hospital to create a healthy playground for patients during the Lunar New Year. Through this, patients feel the care of the community, contributing positively to their treatment and mental health recovery.” Many organizations and philanthropists also join the hospitals in spreading love and support. Mr. Nguyen Ba Vinh (from Bac Nha Trang ward) - a regular sponsor of the Spring Fair program at Khanh Hoa Psychiatric Hospital - said: “I believe that mental health patients are among the most disadvantaged. Activities like the Spring Fair not only bring joy but also serve as a humane therapy, supporting their better recovery. Therefore, when the hospital calls for donations, I am always ready to support them.”

As the year draws to a close and spring approaches every street corner, activities caring for patients in hospitals are kindling the warmth of human kindness, helping patients alleviate their pain and confidently move forward on their treatment journey.
