Tet Reunion - The Warm Flame of the Ha Tinh Trade Union

After 10 years of implementation (2014 - 2024), the "Tet Reunion" program has become an annual event, a festival eagerly awaited by many officials, union members, and workers in Ha Tinh every time Tet and spring arrive.

In the days leading up to the 2024 Lunar New Year, 20 higher-level trade union units directly under the grassroots level across the province simultaneously launched the "Tet Reunion - Spring Sharing" program for union members and workers. Alongside this, hundreds of "Tet Reunion" programs were also organized at the grassroots level.

Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Trung Dung joined in the "Tet Reunion" 2024 celebration with union members and workers in Ha Tinh City.

The program not only brought a warm and convivial atmosphere but also presented thousands of valuable gifts, encouraging workers after a year of hard work and effort. In particular, the participation of provincial leaders and leaders from various departments, agencies, and organizations was a great source of encouragement for the workers.

This year, the family of Ms. Dao Thi Thuong (born in 1989 - a union member of the Center for Social Work and Vocational Education for People with Disabilities - under the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) no longer has to celebrate the New Year in their old, cramped rented room. Thanks to a 50 million VND grant from the provincial "Trade Union Social Fund" for building a new home, along with additional borrowed money, they were able to build a spacious and cozy new house. On the inauguration day, the family also received visits from union officials and colleagues who came to share their joy and give them New Year gifts.

Ms. Dao Thi Thuong is preparing essential items to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year) in her new home.

Receiving financial support for building a new home from the trade union at the "Tet Reunion" program organized by the Provincial Civil Servants' Trade Union, Ms. Thuong couldn't hide her emotion: "Both my husband and I have congenital disabilities, and we're raising three young children and my elderly mother who is over 70 years old. We've been married for many years, but our whole family still lives in rented accommodation. Now, thanks to the trade union's support, we finally have a new house to live in. This Tet, the joy is so complete for my family!"

On the day of the housewarming party, Ms. Thuong's family was greeted with congratulations and Tet gifts from union officials and colleagues.

At the "Tet Reunion" program organized by the Trade Union of the Provincial Economic Zones, the story shared by Mr. Truong Van Huy (a member of the Trade Union of Formosa Ha Tinh Company) deeply moved the attendees. Mr. Huy's family situation is extremely difficult: his family is poor, his father has been bedridden for many years due to illness, and his older brother suffers from a serious disease.

Nearly a year ago, a serious traffic accident left Mr. Huy with a traumatic brain injury, broken arms and legs, and multiple injuries, bringing him close to death. After much effort from doctors, his family, and financial support from trade unions at all levels, he was saved.

Workers enthusiastically participated in the prize draw program.

Fortunately and unexpectedly, in the lucky draw, Mr. Huy won the grand prize worth over 7 million VND. Receiving the prize on stage and sharing his story, Mr. Huy couldn't hold back his tears. He shared: “Participating in the ‘Tet Reunion’ program today, I never thought I would be so lucky to win such a valuable prize. Throughout my treatment, the trade unions at all levels have always shown concern and support, and now I've received this good fortune; it truly warms my heart.”

In this year's "Tet Reunion - Spring Sharing" program in 2024, the Provincial Labor Union presented 2,560 gifts worth nearly 1.6 billion VND, supported 48 "Trade Union Shelters" worth nearly 1.5 billion VND; and higher-level and grassroots trade unions distributed tens of thousands of gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai and Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union Nguyen Van Danh presented financial support for the construction of union-sponsored housing to union members in the province's economic zones.

In addition, 2,000 union members were able to purchase goods for free on the e-commerce platform through the "Trade Union Tet Market" program of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; many meaningful activities were organized such as: lucky draws, banh chung wrapping competitions, "Zero-Cost Fair", family reunion meals, cultural exchanges...

Having been implemented for exactly 10 years (2014-2024) under the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the "Tet Reunion" program has truly become a major event eagerly awaited by officials, union members, and workers every time Tet and spring arrive.

After 10 years of implementation, the "Tet Reunion" program has become a "trademark" of the trade union organization.

What started as a provincial-level program, initially organized in businesses with a high concentration of workers, has now spread and been widely implemented in agencies, units, and businesses throughout the province; receiving attention from Party committees and authorities, as well as financial support from businesses, individuals, and philanthropists.

Over the past 10 years, trade unions at all levels throughout the province have organized nearly 7,800 "Tet Reunion" programs with more than 443,000 participants. Nearly 90,000 gift packages worth nearly 41 billion VND have been distributed; 322 "Trade Union Shelter" houses worth 8.6 billion VND have been built; and 7,625 free bus tickets for returning home for Tet have been given to union members and workers.

Along with "Workers' Month," "Tet Reunion" is considered a key and central activity of the year, aiming to practically care for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers, becoming a "trademark" of the trade union organization. Not only does it bring a warm and joyful Tet atmosphere, but the program also demonstrates timely care and encouragement so that union members and workers can enjoy a warm and fulfilling Tet holiday; practically contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare work by Party committees and authorities at all levels.
