According to Tuoi Tre Online , at noon on February 10th (the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month), a large number of people gathered in areas along the banks of the Red River and West Lake (Hanoi) to release carp.

Along the Red River bank near Ngoc Lam food village, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Bo De ward (Hanoi) deployed its members to assist people in releasing fish and remind them not to throw plastic bags into the river.

Mr. Pham Hung Cuong, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Bo De Ward, said that the plastic bags used after releasing the fish will be collected and sorted before being sent to an environmental company for processing.

Up to this point, after the awareness campaign, many people have complied with the rule of not throwing plastic bags into the river; however, there are still some isolated cases of people littering and discarding ashes.

Present at the fish release area on the banks of the Red River, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc from Bo De ward said that releasing carp on the day of the Kitchen God and Stove God is a beautiful cultural tradition of Vietnam. Every year on this day, he and his family go to the banks of the Red River to release fish.

According to Mr. Phuc, alongside releasing fish, maintaining environmental hygiene is also very important. Everyone must raise their awareness so that the banks of the Red River are not covered with plastic bags and dust after each fish release.

According to popular belief, carp are the means by which the Kitchen God ascends to heaven, so releasing carp carries deep spiritual significance, expressing reverence and a wish for protection in the new year.

To ensure environmental hygiene, after people release the fish, the youth union members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Bo De ward (Hanoi) will collect the plastic bags.

Burning incense sticks and throwing the ashes into the river poses a risk of environmental pollution.

According to Tuoi Tre Online , in the West Lake area, near Tran Quoc Pagoda, Tay Ho ward, volunteers, youth union members, and ward officials were stationed to guide people in releasing fish.

Several large barrels were placed in designated areas. When people brought fish to West Lake, they were instructed to release the fish into these barrels, after which the ward's forces transported the barrels of fish to the Red River for release. Plastic bags were also collected and disposed of in designated areas according to regulations.
