Challenges and Opportunities

This afternoon, December 9th, the Industry and Trade Newspaper is organizing a seminar titled "The Carbon Market: Challenges and Opportunities".

To implement policies on green and sustainable economic development, as well as the national strategy on climate change for the period up to 2050 as stipulated in Decision No. 896/QD-TTg dated July 26, 2022, of the Prime Minister, aiming to proactively and effectively adapt, reduce vulnerability, losses, and damages caused by climate change; and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to a net emission target of "zero" by 2050, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued the "Action Plan for Responding to Climate Change and Green Growth in the Industry and Trade Sector for the period up to 2030, with a vision to 2050" with many specific objectives.

The Industry and Trade Newspaper organized a seminar titled "Carbon Market: Challenges and Opportunities".

To achieve the objectives outlined in the strategy and plan, raising awareness about emissions and implementing a market for trading greenhouse gas emission reduction credits (carbon market) in Vietnam are crucial tasks for the industry and many businesses within the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

With the aim of conveying the message about economic transformation towards a green, circular, and low-carbon economy; and at the same time providing updated information on the current status, challenges, and effective implementation solutions for the carbon market in Vietnam, the Industry and Trade Newspaper is organizing a thematic seminar "Carbon Market: Challenges and Opportunities" with the participation of the following guests:

- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Chinh - Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Environmental Economics

- Dr. Nguyen Hoang Nam - National Economics University

- Mr. Vu Manh Thang - Deputy Head of Project Department - Energy Division, Truong Thanh Vietnam Group
