Chelsea have gone four matches without a win. The humiliating defeat in Bergamo has shattered the hopes of "The Blues" fans for Enzo Maresca's team. Fans are finding it hard to accept the loss against an opponent currently ranked 12th in Serie A. This also marks their fifth consecutive away game without a win.
From a position in the group that qualified directly for the knockout stage, Chelsea were pushed down to 11th place and faced the risk of having to play in the play-offs if they did not win all 6 points in the remaining two matches.

Chelsea clearly showed a lack of consistency. |
Atalanta started strongly, nearly ending their first-half goalless streak as Lookman repeatedly threatened Chelsea's goal. The striker forced Robert Sanchez to make a save in the 6th minute, before Josh Acheampong denied him another chance midway through the half.
The wasted opportunities cost the home team dearly. Chelsea unexpectedly opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Reece James' cross was converted into a goal by Joao Pedro. VAR confirmed the Brazilian player was not offside, giving "The Blues" the advantage and complete control of the second half.
The real turning point came after the break. Atalanta, a club known for their explosive second-half performances, showed their difference. Just two minutes after Lookman's goal was disallowed, Charles De Ketelaere delivered a perfect assist for Gianluca Scamacca to head in the equalizer in the 55th minute.
Capitalizing on their momentum, Atalanta continued to press and were rewarded in the 83rd minute. De Ketelaere made a daring breakthrough, his shot deflecting off Marc Cucurella, past Sanchez, and into the net, securing a 2-1 victory.
Garnacho and James's last-ditch efforts were both thwarted by goalkeeper Carnesecchi, bringing to a close a forgettable match for Chelsea and opening up great hope for Atalanta in the race to advance from the Champions League group stage.
