Careful and meticulous attention to even the smallest details.
Wishing to give us an overview of the unit's facilities and scale, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Dinh Dao, Head of Warehouse K822, personally drove us around the warehouse system in an electric vehicle. Although we had been given a tour beforehand, we were quite surprised to find that most of the unit's ammunition depots were built to national military standards for ammunition storage, with sturdy structures such as walls, ceilings, roofs, doors, windows, locks, and ventilation systems.
All warehouses are equipped with complete lightning protection systems, water tanks, and sand tanks for firefighting; firefighting equipment and tools are fully provided in accordance with regulations. In particular, Warehouse K822 recently completed the installation of a surveillance camera system across 76 clusters to support patrolling and guarding, promptly detecting any unusual signs and preventing situations that could endanger the warehouse area.

Maintenance and packaging of ammunition at Warehouse K822 are carried out carefully and meticulously. |
Through on-site visits and conversations, witnessing the daily work of the officers and staff at Warehouse K822, we understood that ammunition storage is one of the most dangerous tasks. We also gained a deeper understanding of the silent hardships faced by these "warehouse soldiers" in maintaining a system of registration, management, and statistical records according to regulations, ensuring that ammunition is properly categorized, sorted, and arranged in the correct groups, safely stored, and meticulously maintained. The task demands a very high level of attention and strict adherence to regulations, thus requiring each officer and staff member to be highly focused, cautious, and meticulous in every action, without allowing any mistakes to occur.
Guiding us on a tour of the neatly arranged square ammunition blocks, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Dinh Dao explained that the unit strictly and seriously manages the quantity, quality, and standardization of ammunition according to hierarchical levels. The warehouse staff strictly adheres to the monitoring of temperature, humidity, and ventilation, ensuring the warehouse is always well-ventilated and maintains the required temperature. The results of daily monitoring and ventilation are clearly and accurately recorded.
“In accordance with the regulations of the Ordnance Department on organizing heat protection for ammunition warehouses, when the outside temperature exceeds 32°C, we organize ventilation for warehouses classified as high and very high risk; when the outside temperature exceeds 35°C, we organize ventilation for 100% of the warehouses, including holidays and weekends,” affirmed Lieutenant Colonel Tran Ngoc Hoan, Team Leader of Preservation Team 1, Warehouse K822.
Synchronize technical assurance solutions
Along with the management and standardization of ammunition, the regular storage and quality control of ammunition are always carried out by Warehouse K822 in accordance with regulations; ammunition testing and chemical analysis are conducted rigorously and seriously. 100% of the batches and types of ammunition managed at the warehouse undergo chemical analysis and quality control testing according to the prescribed schedule and timeframe.

Officers at Warehouse K822 inspect ammunition storage procedures. |
Around midday, under the scorching summer sun, at the Ammunition Maintenance and Repair Station, the soldiers and technicians were still diligently working. The work demanded meticulousness and high precision, so everyone was highly focused and strictly adhered to labor discipline. Each machine had a complete instruction manual and safety rules for operation. Equipment requiring strict safety standards was inspected and certified to meet safety criteria, and all necessary records were kept and managed according to regulations. “We prioritize strict safety procedures when storing, maintaining, and packaging ammunition; we uphold a high sense of responsibility in our work, maintain high concentration, meticulousness, and precision, and absolutely do not allow any mistakes to occur,” shared Lieutenant Colonel Le Viet Hung, Station Chief of the Maintenance and Repair Station.
Thanks to the synchronized implementation of technical assurance, equipment maintenance, and safety regulations, over the years, Warehouse K822 has consistently performed well in technical maintenance according to technological procedures; organized the disposal of ammunition in accordance with superior decisions, and completed 100% of assigned targets and plans with good quality and absolute safety. In 2025 and the first six months of 2026, Warehouse K822 received, stored, and distributed tens of thousands of tons of ammunition with strict, accurate, and safe procedures.
We bid farewell to the officers, staff, and soldiers of Warehouse K822, but the image of those who guarded the warehouse, their shirts drenched in sweat, still diligently and meticulously performing their tasks, filled us with admiration. The work is arduous and inherently risky, but these soldier-workers always strive to overcome difficulties, encouraging each other to complete their duties well, silently continuing to write the glorious history of this Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces during the đổi mới (renovation) period.
