According to observations by SGGP reporters in Xuan Hoi commune, many points along the coastline of Tan Ninh Chau and Hoi Tien villages have been deeply eroded, with casuarina trees forming overhangs that are encroaching on the Hoi Thong dike and residential areas. Many casuarina trees that act as wave barriers have been swept away or uprooted; others are in a state of severe root erosion.

Mr. Phan Vinh Tuy, head of Tan Ninh Chau village, said that the landslide is now only about 10 meters away from the Hoi Thong dike, causing great concern among the people, especially with the rainy and stormy season approaching. He requested that the relevant authorities survey the river flow soon and take measures to address the issue and ensure the safety of the people.

According to Nguyen Tien Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Hoi commune, the most severely eroded section of the coastline is in Tan Ninh Chau and Hoi Tien villages, stretching nearly 500 meters and potentially affecting more than 350 households. Initially, the commune is proposing support with over 1,000 cubic meters of rubble, hundreds of steel gabions, and approximately 5,000 sandbags for temporary reinforcement. Simultaneously, they are requesting the early implementation of phase 2 of the project "Urgent Coastal Erosion Treatment in Hoi Xuan Commune" to protect the Hoi Thong dike and the residential areas inland.

In Ky Loi commune (within the Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ky Anh town), the erosion situation is equally serious. In Hai Phong 1 and 2 hamlets, the coastline has eroded right up to people's houses, only 5-10 meters away. Previously, the coastline was about 100 meters from the residential area, but after many years of high tides and large waves, it has pushed further inland, threatening the residential area, houses, buildings, and graves of the people.

Mr. Chu Van Quang, Chairman of the Ky Loi Commune People's Committee, said that Hai Phong 1 and Hai Phong 2 villages have approximately 2,800 inhabitants with 870 households. The Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee has approved a project to build resettlement infrastructure for 220 affected households. Initially, priority will be given to relocating households near the sea and in low-lying areas in phase 1, followed by subsequent phases.
Local authorities and residents hope that relevant agencies will expedite the project's implementation to ensure safety and stability in their lives and production.
