The second National Journalism Award “For the Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism” is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) to select and award prizes to authors or groups of authors with outstanding journalistic works on culture, family, sports and tourism.

On May 22nd, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Organizing Committee of the second National Journalism Award “For the Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism ”, signed Decision No. 1375/QD-BTCGBC promulgating the Regulations for the second Award.

Acknowledging contributions

The Second National Journalism Award “For the Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism” (hereinafter referred to as the Award) is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to select and award prizes to authors or groups of authors with outstanding journalistic works on culture, family, sports and tourism that are published or broadcast by central and local press agencies within the specified time; and to award prizes to exemplary press agencies with many winning entries.

The award aims to recognize and honor the outstanding contributions of individuals and groups within the journalistic community to the development of culture, sports, and tourism.

The Award aims to inform and introduce the results and achievements of cultural, sports, and tourism work. At the same time, it seeks to discover exemplary individuals and advanced models in the cultural, sports, and tourism sector; and to encourage and motivate officials throughout the sector to work together and continue to contribute even more to the development of culture, sports, and tourism.

Creating opportunities for journalists to exchange professional experience and expertise will contribute to improving the quality and effectiveness of information and journalism in the fields of culture, family, sports, and tourism.

According to the Regulations, eligible authors for the Award are Vietnamese citizens residing in Vietnam and abroad whose journalistic works on culture, family, sports, and tourism have been published or broadcast on licensed media outlets (print, online, radio, television, and photojournalism) within the specified period; and foreign authors whose journalistic works (written in Vietnamese) comply with the Award regulations.

New features

Regarding the content of the entries, the second edition of the Award has several new features. Accordingly, the Award is selected and given to outstanding authors or groups of authors for journalistic works that reflect real people and real events (not fiction), demonstrate originality, accurately and promptly reflect positive collectives, individuals, and actions, exemplary achievements, and criticize bad habits and vices in society… with one of the following key themes:

The implementation of the Party's 13th National Congress documents has been put into practice; the directives and resolutions of the Central Committee and Party committees at all levels have been realized; and the role and importance of culture in the socio-economic development of the country have been highlighted.

Current situation regarding mechanisms and policies in the fields of culture, family, sports, and tourism, and solutions for improvement.

Identify difficulties, obstacles, and shortcomings, and then propose innovative solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management, advisory work, and the organization of activities for the development of culture, sports, and tourism from the central to local levels.

New models, effective methods, exemplary collective and individual examples, and advanced models in implementing policies and guidelines on cultural and human development include: Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Central Committee of the 11th Party Congress on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development; Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW dated May 18, 2021, of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016, of the Politburo on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style; and Directive No. 06-CT/TW dated June 24, 2021, of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership over family building in the new situation.

The strategy for cultural development until 2030; the General Secretary's conclusions at the 2021 National Cultural Conference; the General Secretary's message to the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector at the 2023 National Conference honoring outstanding examples in the cultural field; the Politburo's Conclusion No. 70-KL/TW dated January 31, 2024, on the development of physical education and sports in the new period; the Prime Minister's Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024, on the comprehensive, rapid and sustainable development of tourism in the coming period; and the Prime Minister's directives at the National Conference of Cultural Industries.

Building the Vietnamese people in the era of reform, development, and integration with appropriate standard values, while preserving and promoting Vietnamese family values, cultural values, and national values; seamlessly combining traditional values ​​with contemporary values.

Developing comprehensively and synchronously all aspects of culture, cultural environment, and cultural life: Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, absorbing the finest aspects of human culture, disseminating and spreading Vietnamese cultural values ​​to friends and the international community through Vietnamese cultural events organized abroad; while simultaneously improving the quality and effectiveness of creating new cultural values. Building a healthy and civilized cultural environment linked to an uncompromising struggle against evil, wickedness, and anti-cultural practices.

Improving the cultural life of the people; building a joyful, healthy, and happy cultural life; overcoming the disparity in cultural development and enjoyment between different regions of the country. Building a healthy cultural environment in cyberspace, fostering a sense of responsibility and national pride to gradually eliminate negative manifestations, prevent and push back "deviant" phenomena, and guide people towards truth, goodness, and beauty.

The work of building and perfecting institutions, mechanisms, and policies is oriented towards "creating" and "unlocking" resources for the development of culture, sports, and tourism.

Regarding the journalistic genres considered for the Award: The entries must be journalistic works such as feature articles, reports, investigative reports, documentaries, essays, and talk shows (excluding live radio and television programs)... promoting culture, family, sports, and tourism, published or broadcast for the first time on various media platforms: print newspapers, online newspapers, radio, television, and photojournalism, from July 1, 2023, to June 15, 2024.

Deadline for submissions: End of day June 20, 2024.
