An additional 2,043 cases of Covid-19 were reported on May 17th.

According to the Ministry of Health 's announcement regarding the Covid-19 epidemic, today, May 17th, the country recorded an additional 2,043 cases of Covid-19.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has recorded 11.596 million cases, ranking 13th out of 231 countries and territories. With a rate of 117,193 infections per million people, Vietnam ranks 120th out of 231 countries and territories.

Today, May 17th, the country recorded 2,043 new cases of Covid-19.

According to health departments, on May 16th, 853 patients recovered, and there were no deaths due to Covid-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 10.633 million Covid-19 patients in Vietnam have recovered.

In the treatment units, 75 patients are receiving oxygen. Of these, 65 are receiving oxygen via face masks, 6 are receiving high-flow non-invasive oxygen therapy (HFNC), 1 is on non-invasive mechanical ventilation, and 3 are on invasive mechanical ventilation.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 43,201 deaths due to Covid-19 have been recorded in Vietnam, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

Vietnam ranks 26th out of 231 countries and territories in terms of total deaths; and 141st out of 231 countries and territories in terms of deaths per million people. Compared to Asia, Vietnam ranks 7th out of 50 countries and territories in terms of total deaths; and 29th out of 50 countries and territories in terms of deaths per million people.

Regarding the progress of COVID-19 vaccination, the Ministry of Health reported that 875 doses were administered on May 16th. Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, over 266.34 million doses have been administered nationwide. Of these, over 223.694 million doses were given to people aged 18 and older, nearly 24 million doses to children aged 12-17, and over 18.68 million doses to children aged 5-11.
