Many results in cooperation

At the reception of the delegation of Salavan province visiting and working in Hue City at the end of May 2025, the leaders of the Party Committee's Office of Administration and Service and the Salavan Provincial Party Committee assessed: The special traditional friendship between Hue City and Salavan Province is increasingly close, trustworthy, effective and practical in all fields, from politics , diplomacy, national security and defense, culture, education, health...

Hue City has been providing Vietnamese language and university and college training for 1,452 Lao students; of which, nearly 250 are students from Salavan province. From 2023 to present, Nguyen Chi Thanh Political School has organized a short-term training course to foster leadership and management skills for 30 students from Salavan province; in addition, it has provided intermediate political theory training for 12 students from the neighboring province.

According to the leader of the Party Committee's Office of Medical Examination and Treatment, Hue City has created favorable conditions for leaders and people of Salavan province to visit and receive treatment at Hue Central Hospital and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Hue Central Hospital applies the same medical examination and treatment prices for local residents as those for Vietnamese people. In 2024 alone, Hue Central Hospital examined and treated nearly 1,150 Lao patients; including many patients from Salavan province.

Promoting the spirit of good cooperation and friendship, Hue City has provided many supports to the people of Salavan province in the border area to stabilize their lives by providing food, necessities, plant and animal varieties; providing technical guidance and farming models; supporting medical examination and treatment and providing some free medicines to the people at the Sa Muoi District Health Station, Salavan province.

Mr. Chasamon Phommaseng, Head of the Salavan Provincial Party Committee, assessed: The support from Hue City in the past time has been great for Salavan province, helping to promote socio-economic development and ensure local social security. The support for political theory training has contributed to improving the political capacity, experience and quality of work management of Salavan provincial officials. This is a quality human resource to manage work in localities in the new period, aiming for further development in the coming time.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee's Office of Information and Communications, informed: Through the locality, Hue has donated many learning tools and Vietnamese textbooks for primary school students studying at schools under the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association in Salavan province. This is a practical activity to provide additional support for children to have enough facilities for studying; at the same time, to honor the national language, to help spread the love of Vietnamese, to create motivation to promote the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese in the overseas Vietnamese community, to help the young generation of overseas Vietnamese improve their understanding, preserve and promote the cultural identity and traditions of the Vietnamese nation.

Mr. Hoang Khanh Hung, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Party Committee's Organizing Committee, emphasized: The good traditional friendship with Salavan province has always been identified by Hue City as one of the key tasks in the city's foreign affairs and diplomacy. The two countries and two localities are entering a new stage of development, so cooperation needs to be tightened and become more effective.

To meet the development requirements, especially contributing to strengthening cooperation and mutual assistance, the Hue City Party Committee's Propaganda and Education Committee and the Salavan Party Committee have agreed to sign a new cooperation memorandum with a number of key contents. In particular, promoting and diversifying propaganda and education work among cadres, party members, armed forces and people of the two localities. The two sides have implemented a number of new cooperation mechanisms, with more diverse and practical forms. Increasing online meetings to inform about the situation, exchange practical experiences; organizing theoretical seminars, publishing leaflets, propaganda documents, etc.

At the reception of the Salavan provincial delegation at the end of May 2025, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Pham Duc Tien wished that the two localities would increase activities promoting each other's culture, tourism and cuisine; at the same time, regularly exchange delegations to attend cultural activities, festivals... Through that, it will not only actively contribute to promoting the potential and strengths of developing culture, sports, tourism and cultural heritage of the localities, but also contribute to creating tourism corridors between important destinations in the ASEAN region.

Another content that Hue City leaders hope to promote more cooperation in the coming time is that Hue has Chan May deep-water seaport which has been upgraded with 3 wharves, capable of receiving cargo ships with a capacity of 70,000 tons. The city is implementing a number of policies to support shipping lines and entities with goods transported to and from Chan May port. Salavan province can notify businesses that need to exploit and use this service at Chan May port; study to diversify the structure of export items to increase opportunities for exporting goods from Hue City to Lao localities and vice versa.
