After graduating from the University of Economics , Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang worked as a corporate accountant for 15 years before discovering her passion for photography. Familiarizing herself with an art form completely unrelated to her main job, she learned from experienced photographers and dedicated her weekends and days off to creating art.
“Through photography, I learn more about the landscapes, people, food , customs, festivals... throughout Vietnam and other countries. Traveling to many places, making friends with many people, and understanding more about the country and its people, I feel more in love with life and want to explore more new things. When I go out to create, there are places where only men are allowed to photograph, not women, or where I have to stay up late and wake up early, climb hills, and wade through streams... but because of my passion, I still try to overcome it,” shared female photographer Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang.
Passionate about photographing everyday life, traditional crafts, and heritage sites, Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang has pursued this passion for 10 years, and 80% of her work consists of photo series. Her favorite is the series "Disabled but Not Defeated." She says this work evoked many emotions during the shoot, as it allowed her to encounter unique individuals with physical disabilities but strong willpower; from that, she felt she needed to strive harder in life. Looking at everything with a light heart, she wrote on her personal page: "Never regret any day in your life: good days bring happiness, bad days bring experience..."
From 2017 to the present, in participating in photo contests, she has won 3 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 8 third prizes, nearly 20 consolation prizes, and many works have been selected for exhibition at competitions in Ho Chi Minh City, the region, and at the national level.
