Actress Thoại Mỹ affirmed that she is still healthy and that the information is false.
While performing, Thoại Mỹ was shocked to receive a video allegedly showing her own funeral.
In a video posted on her personal page and fan page, artist Thoại Mỹ looked very cheerful, stating that she was healthy and had arrived in Houston (USA) to prepare for the Vu Lan performance at Phước Đức Monastery on the morning of September 14th (which is the morning of September 15th, Vietnam time).
She said she was surprised to see so many messages, clips, and expressions of concern from viewers for Thoại Mỹ.
In those clips, Thoai My's image was juxtaposed with an image of a white coffin, accompanied by a fabricated message: "Goodbye, Meritorious Artist Thoai My, you will forever be a legend in my heart and in the hearts of future generations."
After a moment of surprise, Thoại Mỹ regained her composure and found it amusing: "How come I didn't know it was my own funeral?" However, fearing that her fans and colleagues would be shocked, Thoại Mỹ quickly recorded a video to correct this false rumor.
She reassured the audience, telling them to rest assured that she was safe. At the same time, she sent a message to those spreading fabricated clips: "You should stop. This has happened to one artist after another, and it's not good for you to do this!"
Thoai My and her performances during the Vu Lan season.
Even though she's in the US this year, Thoại Mỹ still regularly accepts performance gigs to entertain Buddhist followers and audiences at temples during the Vu Lan festival.
During the performance on the morning of September 15th, she will have the opportunity to meet her close friend and colleague, artist Phuong Hong Thuy.
Both Thoại Mỹ and Phương Hồng Thủy are Buddhists and are deeply devoted to Buddhism. On their personal pages, the two artists often share valuable lessons from the Buddha's teachings.
Artist Thoại Miêu, Thoại Mỹ's older sister, recounts that when they go to the temple, the two sisters both enjoy sitting and chanting scriptures. Those are moments that allow them to calm their minds and think about beautiful things.
Thoại Mỹ lost her mother at a very young age, so going to the temple and singing there is also a way for her to dedicate the merits to her beloved mother.
Artist Phuong Hong Thuy is the adopted daughter of the late artist Ut Bach Lan. Ms. Ut Bach Lan founded the Hoa Lan Trang (White Orchid) group, which specializes in charity performances and singing at temples to accumulate merit and support artists and the poor in need.
When her aunt was alive, Phuong Hong Thuy would always accompany her on singing tours whenever possible. After her aunt passed away, she still occasionally performed with Hoa Lan Trang , a group now led by artist To Chau.
In the White Orchid group, artist Thoại Miêu is also an active member.
