Vietnamese fashion takes over international runways.

In September, many Vietnamese brands simultaneously "went abroad" to showcase their collections in the world's biggest fashion capitals such as New York (USA), London (UK), Milan (Italy), Paris (France)... for the Spring/Summer 2026 fashion season.

A bright picture

"Going international" is currently the vision of many brands, aiming for vast overseas markets such as the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia – home to emerging fashion weeks like Shanghai (China), Seoul (South Korea), Tokyo (Japan)... In the current fashion season, Vietnam has more than a dozen brands participating in showcasing their collections on international runways, demonstrating the flourishing of this trend.

During New York Fashion Week (September 11-16), Vietnamese fashion made a splash with the appearances of designers Vy Nguyen (Ivy Moda) and Pham Ngoc Anh (La Pham). In addition, the brands Mr Crazy and Lady Sexy marked their first steps on the international stage with showcases for media, investors, and distributors in New York and Paris.

Three Vietnamese brands participated in London Fashion Week (September 18-22): Tran Hung, Montsand, and IHF Studio. Meanwhile, designer Phan Dang Hoang returned to Milan Fashion Week. (September 23-29) Paris Fashion Week (September 29 - October 7) featured Linh Nga Couture, 21Six, Tracy Studio, and Ha Linh Thu. Shanghai Fashion Week (October 9-16) included Hacchic Couture and Thanh Huong Bui.

Making its debut on the Paris runway, Linh Nga Couture attracted attention. A brand representative stated that in recent years, the brand has established a strong foothold in the Middle East, Europe, and China – where clients, including major stars and international KOLs, frequently choose to wear "made in Vietnam" designs to red carpets and important events. These images have generated significant viral spread on social media, providing a foundation for the brand's confidence in venturing into the fashion capital of France. While runways in New York and Milan have influence, Paris holds symbolic significance. For a high-end haute couture fashion house, France is the natural destination, and Paris Fashion Week is the stepping stone to achieving global recognition. "The biggest challenge when going abroad is overcoming the extremely stringent standards of Paris. However, this also motivates us to affirm that Vietnamese fashion brands can share the stage with international names," designer Linh Nga said.

Shining a light on the essence of Vietnamese fashion.

Beyond mere showmanship, international runways have long been a place where brands seek business opportunities, strengthen relationships with customers and distribution partners. Most Vietnamese brands also set clear and specific goals when showcasing their new collections abroad. As a brand making its debut at London Fashion Week, IHF Studio hopes to expand collaborations with international buyers, increase media coverage, and affirm the position of Vietnamese brands on the global fashion map. "London is a gateway to connecting with new markets, where we can find long-term partners," said designer Kiko Nhung Nguyen. Earlier this year, the brand chose Paris to launch its contemporary youth fashion line to international customers, then returned to its starting point, the London runway, to celebrate its 12th anniversary. The female designer stated that besides going through multiple rounds of selection and review by the organizers, and finding a team with expertise in the global market, the most important thing is to create a unique impression and attract the attention of international media, as hundreds of brands are always showcasing their collections. The fashion house believes that once on the global stage, product quality is the measure of prestige, and the brand becomes a symbol of the strong transformation of Vietnamese fashion on the world fashion map. With the 30 outfits just presented, IHF Studio transforms traditional materials and craftsmanship into a sophisticated and internationally-oriented language of wearable fashion, demonstrating its potential to become part of the contemporary fashion movement.

Designer Linh Nga believes that in the international market, Vietnamese brands have outstanding advantages that cannot be replicated anywhere else, such as inspiration from unique Vietnamese identity and sophisticated craftsmanship, all told through the language of international fashion. Vietnamese fashion needs to aim for recognition as a high-end, handcrafted fashion house, not just as clothing from an Asian brand. Paris serves as both a direct link to international customers and a stepping stone for brands to enter Paris Haute Couture Week in the near future.
