Quang Nam FC's goalkeeper has found a new club in Ho Chi Minh City.

Goalkeeper Nguyen Van Cong has left Quang Nam FC to compete for a goalkeeping position at Becamex Ho Chi Minh City FC starting from the 2025-2026 season.

Coach Nguyen Anh Duc has the added services of goalkeeper Nguyen Van Cong from Quang Nam FC. Van Cong will compete with number one goalkeeper Nguyen Minh Toan for the starting position at Becamex Ho Chi Minh City FC.

The contract duration and value were not disclosed by either party. Coach Anh Duc can be pleased that Van Cong could be a viable alternative after parting ways with the two young goalkeepers.

Van Cong was born in 1992 and rose through the ranks of Hanoi FC's youth academy. He played professionally for the capital city team for six years before being transferred to Quang Nam FC at the end of 2023.

Goalkeeper Van Cong was previously called up to the Vietnam U23 team under coach Toshiya Miura from 2014 to 2015.

At the club level, Van Cong has a solid record from his time playing for Hanoi FC. Wearing the colors of the Tam Ky-based team, the 33-year-old goalkeeper has extensive experience but also frequently makes silly mistakes.

Ahead of the 2025-2026 season, with the team facing the risk of ceasing operations due to lack of funding, Nguyen Van Cong was given the opportunity to leave and was signed by Becamex Ho Chi Minh City.

Previously, the team parted ways with two goalkeepers, Vu Tuyen Quang and Phan Minh Thanh. Tuyen Quang joined Hanoi Police FC, while Minh Thanh only said goodbye and has not yet been assigned to a new team.
